Your answer sir: It's not the quantity that counts it's the quality. If you crap everywhere up with 500 Spam posts, that doesn't make you a good member, but if you have just 10 posts and they are insightful and intelligent, you certianly look better than the Spammer. Karma may be a better reflection of member quality than post counts.

This is also arguable. Jaded members who habit of both insightfully contributing and pissing people off such as myself or Alec will only reflect the latter in their karma(s).

To answer Order Mage's question: To become a good member, start by creating a scenario and submit it to a contest, but make sure that the scenario is so buggy that you have to re-submit it three times, and even then winning is difficult because of BoE bugs. Then, become a moderator of the Avernum 2 board. After which, you should try a scenario based on the idea that cameos are cool, asking virtually everyone to be in your scenario, creating a short-lived trend of scenarios that desperately try to re-capture the idea, and somehow never become completed. In the meantime, you've figured out that the Arena is the perfect place to post Goatse. By now, you've become mod of Misc., A2, Nethergate (which you created), and Galatic Core (which you also created). You've recommended many people to moderation positions, and you've created a glitchy and insanely difficult scenario called "Backlash", or something of the like, only to produce eleventy bajillion more scenarios like "Backlash: Brown Stallion" or "Backlash: Big Hitting" in the future. Unfortunately, the boards will switch from UBB to Invisionfree, and then will decide to suck worse than they do already. You will at that point moderate half of the boards, until you piss off an unruly newbie named "Seekwon6". Another member named "DoctorScalpius" will post an image you hosted on your site for him at the top of Misc, getting both you and him demodded on account of your being direly framed. The administration will refuse to listen to you. Ah well, time to start pumping out more scenarios. You'll make one in the desert. You'll make one in 24 hours. Your scenarios will focus on such rich, unique and unexplored races such as "Rukshuso" and "Oloothods", and will all be beta-tested by Sertem Ari. By now, everyone has identified you by your habit of getting banned repeatedly from multiple places, your insanely leftist beliefs (you will be a commie by now), your malicious habits of attacking posters, and your prolific scenario repetoire.

Then, Order Mage, you will truly be a good member.

We're all amazed but not amused
By all the things that you said you'd do.
You're much concerned but not involved by
Decisions that are made by you
But we are sick and tired of hearing your song,
Telling us how you are going to change right from wrong,
'Cause if you really want to hear our views,
You haven't done nothin'.

Order Mage, maybe you just weren't here long enough, or maybe you're simply a thickie, but TM was reffering to his own life on Spidweb.

Let's try to kep the insults down, shall we?

[Edit: While we are occasionally disgusting, we are never ew.]

—Alorael, who agrees with Logo on the value of quality over quantity. Yes, he believes it even holds true in his own case. As for TM, his guide is good for becoming a noteworthy and respected member. "Good" can be best achieved by not posting.

A "Good Member" is simply someone who contributes to the community in any small way. From making a scenario to anwsering peoples questions etc.

Oh, and never show your emotions, nor say what you really think. It will just get people flaming at you, and at that point, don't care about them not getting to face the consequenceesessensns, it will just get you warned.

And never make a screenname starting with The Great, it will aonly get you hated. Thank you for your time.

Sorry about the outburst Alorael, but it did seem like a novel opprotunity to use the word "Thickie", which appears to mean stupid, although no one really knows...

Most of the respected members tend to be prats with punchlines, from what I've observed.

Ikari, that was awesome =]

Order Mage, don't even think about following TM's instructions.

Also, you can be a good member with 1 post, and you can also be a bad member with 5000. Post count has nothing whatsoever to do with how good of a member you are. Nothing at all.

That's what I said. Quality over quantity. The next bit was, in my own words, do as I say, not as I do.

—Alorael, who doesn't think it's really possible to be a good member with one post. Valuable membership requires actual presence, which means more than one post.

If OM is justy concerned about title and post count, however, as I suspect, the FAQs section should have the answers he seeks.
