(This is indeed not what a board would look like, but just go along with it for a bit.) The object of Go is to gain territory, or "Moku". You gain territory when you surround that territory on all of its sides. Not counting Moki (I'll get to that later), Black has 7 moku, and white has 2 moku. At the end of a game, however, you can reduce your opponent's moku by however many of their stones you captured. How do you capture stones? Simple- when you surround a stone formation on all sides (you don't need corners, just sides), the stone is captured. That raises the question... ...who wins? Because it's generally believed that black has the upper hand, it has a 5.5 moku handicap, called a "Moki". (In China, moki is 7.5, and if I'm not mistaken, Korea has it at 8.5) Counting up territory, black has 7, and white has 3. After factoring in stones captured, black has 6, and white has 2.
