Right- Small error report for release 4 of BoE, downloaded from Khoth's site. I can't seem to create new scenarios. Each time, after I'm told to wait a while for the editor to create my scenario, I get the following error: I haven't seen this mentioned before, and I wasn't sure which thread this should go into. So here it is. For the record: I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.8 and I have 512 MB of memory. PPC processor. Any help is appreciated -------------------- ~ Eschar Blacke Posts: 13 | Registered: Monday, April 30 2007 07:00 |

I just hope Blizzard won't pull a "Starcraft: Ghost" on us. I was looking forward to that one. -------------------- ~ Eschar Blacke Posts: 13 | Registered: Monday, April 30 2007 07:00 |

Is there no way to compile it and then run it in Classic mode? I do know that carbonizing is required before running it natively in OS X, but I'd think that there would be some way to compile it into a classic application. However, I know virtually nothing about the process, so I might just be babbling meaninglessly. :P -------------------- ~ Eschar Blacke Posts: 13 | Registered: Monday, April 30 2007 07:00 |

Could someone help me a little? I have no knowledge of how to compile something like this (running Mac OS X Tiger), so I would appreciate it greatly if someone would find the time to either give me a link to a page containing instructions, or write something simple out himself. Or something. Anything is excellent. -------------------- ~ Eschar Blacke Posts: 13 | Registered: Monday, April 30 2007 07:00 |

The "Designer FAQ" link is broken, it seems. If someone could do anything about that, it would be grand. I apologize if making a new thread about it was not appropriate, I'm still a noob around these parts *grins* -------------------- ~ Eschar Blacke Posts: 13 | Registered: Monday, April 30 2007 07:00 |

1. If Spidweb closed these forums, what would you do? - Spend more time in the other Exile/Avernum places. 2. If you could be any creature from a Spidweb game, what would you be? - The Shareware Demon. 3. Who would you like to see as a moderator? - *shrugs* 4. If you had to change your user name, what would you change it to? - Eschar 5. What's your favorite spell? - Fireball from the Exiles, quickfire is also fun. 6. What city in the Avernum series would you want to rule? - Erika's Tower. *grins* 7. How old are you? - Sixteen. 8. What country would you like to live in besides the one you're in already - Japan. 9. Your favorite Spidweb game is... - Blades of Exile, with the other Exiles trailing closely behind. 10. Am I annoying? - Most definitely possibly. -------------------- ~ Eschar Blacke Posts: 13 | Registered: Monday, April 30 2007 07:00 |

My finals are over in a few days. After that, there are a few days of extra school (although we won't be studying anything relevant, most likely, having finished everything for the year). After that; beautiful, glorious and holy summer break! *coughs* -------------------- ~ Eschar Blacke Posts: 13 | Registered: Monday, April 30 2007 07:00 |

Does this mean the game will be available for free? I'm just wondering, because I've been planning to buy the game recently, and if it'll be free, I'd rather buy Exile three, instead. *grins* -------------------- ~ Eschar Blacke Posts: 13 | Registered: Monday, April 30 2007 07:00 |

quote:Soon? Not from me, anyway. Some day? Perhaps. I promise nothing. At the moment, I'm merely testing the editor a bit, I'm nowhere near the stage where I can make entertaining scenarios, yet. *grins* The idea of using a text box, like in Exile, pleases me to no end. That's one of the reasons I liked the Exiles better than the Avernums. -------------------- ~ Eschar Blacke Posts: 13 | Registered: Monday, April 30 2007 07:00 |

That is indeed preferable! Leaving around clues, for example a piece of paper on the floor, which you recognize the handwriting of if you: a) Have seen it before (looked at a similar piece of paper on someone's desk, for instance) and b) Have enough luck, nature lore or similar skill, leading to a new trail, would be very fun. A break to conventional Adventuring sounds like fun to me. -Eschar suddenly gets a mysterious expression on his face, turns on his heel, and swiftly strides towards his BoA Editor- -------------------- ~ Eschar Blacke Posts: 13 | Registered: Monday, April 30 2007 07:00 |

How about this: Make the scenario enjoyable for everyone, by making it a mental challenge, and bundling a walkthrough with it? It doesn't even have to be a 'complete' walkthrough, merely how to progress through the story. -------------------- ~ Eschar Blacke Posts: 13 | Registered: Monday, April 30 2007 07:00 |

I tend to enjoy having to solve puzzles myself, instead of the mission text doing that for me. If I'm completely stranded, I look at a walkthrough. That's what they're there for, right? I would personally enjoy playing a mystery type of scenario, where the challenge lies in thinking out what to do, not running back and forwards following direct directions. *grins* -------------------- ~ Eschar Blacke Posts: 13 | Registered: Monday, April 30 2007 07:00 |
