On the Reading of Books in General

I love fantasy and sometimes read sci-fi. I think that 'classic' novels are pretty much just novels written by people a lon time ago. I like Dickens, but I like some modern-day others just as much and more. Also, I think some classic books don't deserve to be classic. Like Great Expectations. IMHO, I thought it was boring, depressing, and without a grain of happiness, all the way to the end. Not the book for a depressed person to read! My favorite authors include Raymond Feist, Robert Jordan, Timothy Zahn, TOLKIEN, and Terry Brooks.

I think I'm STILL full from Thanksgiving dinner. Afterwards I just went to sleep!
I see that some oldies are still here, but with changed names. Who's who, if I many ask?

I'm bringing in Seratan, a vahnatai blademaster and apprentice cleric. He has been appointed by the Council to investigate strage but powerful energy signatures coming from the far reaches of the surface. Anyhoo...

Seratan stalked toward the portal, when one of the elders stopped him, saying, "Be careful, Seratan. You're our most prized warrior." With a slight nod, Seratan just went on. Hesitating a moment, he strode through the portal to Exile.
As soon as he came through, he recoiled in shock. The tower of magi was gone! All that was left was ashes and scorched rubble. A lingering smell of heat and sulfur was there, along with another, intangible presence. Vut what shocked him most was who stood before him: Rentar-Ihrno, traitor of the vahnatai people, and several rebel bladesmen. "Ah, Seratan," she said in her cold, heartless voice," you might be of some use to us. We could use help in eradicating these outcast humans."
"You grossly underestimate these humans, Rentar. They defeated the Great Empire in the war! and a single group of them slaughtered their way to our homeworld! Besides, even if it weren't so, I would not help you. You are an outcast, and have no authority anymore. Now, get out of my way!"
Rantar grew vicious. "You will regret the day you crossed me, young fool! For I am still the most powerful sorcerer in existence! Get him!"
With that, she vanished, and the bladesmen attacked fiercely. Seratn pulled out 2 razordisks, and launched them with snaps of his wrists, cleanly slicing two of their heads in half. Now he pulled out his 2 waveblades, blessed extensively by his mentor, the Crystal Soul Glantris-Bok. As the sound of metal on metal rang out through the caverns, his attacker's blade was sliced in half. Before he could react, Seratan cut him up in a blinding flurry of limbs and blades, blood flying everywhere. The last one standing, eyes wide with terror, turned and fled. He hated to do this, but Seratan threw another disk, lodging it in his kin's skull. He loathed the killing of his own people, even if they were rebels. Now to go on to Motrax, the wise dragon who might have some answers.

21. You can stand on lava for eternity and not get hurt, but as soon as you move you're incinerated.

Wrong. They're very strong and nimble. Vahnatai warriors are among the best warriors in all the exile/avernum games (excluding 1)

Another thing i think would add greatly to the game would be to be able to fight on horseback. I hate it when Im on horsebakc and when I enter combat poof! the horses are gone suddenly. Or, the horses could be by themselves and fight on your side.

Or there has to be a way to go into combat in a boat.Like you're just rowing along, and suddenly a kraken appears, and poof! combat! You would still be in a boat and nt able to move, but it zooms in a whole lot like in regular combat except you're all in a boat, and you have to use spells or missiles to hit it.

Does anyone else think it would be cool to have living walls? Like that wall of skulls that someone made, except when you walk by it it hurts you or tries to squish you, and you'd have to kill it. Also, what about a beholder? I think that would be so cool! Anyone else got ideas?

It was good for cleansing dungeons that you didn't feel like exploring, or the monsters were too powerful. Just quickfire, come back in a number of days, and voila! Too prevent it's being used by the wrong people, you could require like 40 in arcane lore or something so it wouldn't be open to just anyone. As for levels of it, just have it do more damage.

Ability for only shamen would be nature lore+magery+priest spells+anatomy= shapechange. You need to be at least a level 20 shaman, and as you get more powerful you can assume more powerful forms, and for longer durations. the forms you could be could include(from least to most powerful) an asp, worg, null bug, aranea, elder aranea, baslisk, ur-basilisk, gorgon, hydra, flame hydra, ice hydra, drake, ice drake, gazer, dark wyrm, drake lord (maybe the drake lord would be too powerful) that's all the suggestions from me.

Bring back Exile 1 holy scourge, the one that slows and curses all the enemies. That was an AWESOME spell!

combine spells, i think. It would probably be hard to do, and I don't know anything about the engine but I think it would be cool to be able to combine spells. Like if you're really low leveled the spells that can be combined are restricted, but as you go up in levels you can combine more powerful spells. Or if that doesn't work, you could bring back one of the field or wal spells like conflagration but make it more powerful, kind of like a stationary fireblast.
IDEAS FOR SPECIAL SKILLS/ABILITIES:

When a berserker gets to a certian level, he gets an ability called whirlwind attack, lasts for 6 rounds, +5 to attack, ap, dex, strength, resistance, and parry. or when a mage gets to a certain level and has certain # of mage spells/intelligence he can combine spells as a special ability (like above) When a priest gets to a certain level and has certain amount of priest skill, he gets the special skill lay on hands, like in d&d. Finally, when a rogue or a thief has enough strength, dexterity, and gymnastics, and when he reaches a certain level, he can assassinate for a special ability. Unlike normal assassination, this is like actual assassination which will instantly kill the target. The more powerful the target, the less the chance of success.

hehe sorry if i bogged you down with ideas.
