@darkmatt: Do you prefer a slow download that requires occaisonal updates, or no download? ;) That's about the choices. RapidShare, though not great, is about the closest you can get to a free, good host for any files. @Radiant: With a little work (and, unfortunately, somewhat cheating RapidShare), you could create a program that automatically downloaded ST once every thirty days. Well, considering you have the copyright, you most certainly have the right to distribute it for free. The "No files that are not allowed to be shared." line is to avoid software piracy. Distributing a game you have the copyrights for is not software piracy. You are "allowing SubTerra to be shared". The deletion ofter 30 days thing might be a problem; but you can always re-upload it once there are some people intrested again. As for the low download speed, it's better than nothing, isn't it? RapidShare says that it has unlimited number of downloads per file, in the first question of the FAQ. Posts: 11 | Registered: Wednesday, March 30 2005 08:00 |

By the way, Radiant; if you want somewhere to host ST1, you might try Rapidshere. It's free and has a 10MB file size limit. Posts: 11 | Registered: Wednesday, March 30 2005 08:00 |

Try going to http://www.liacs.nl/~psimoons/dls/. It's the web directory through which I downloaded my subtwo.exe file (to be exact, the place I downloaded it from was http://www.liacs.nl/~psimoons/dls/subtwo.exe). Note that subtwo.exe is supposedly 1KB, according to the first link. Maybe the file got corrupted somehow? Posts: 11 | Registered: Wednesday, March 30 2005 08:00 |

I've re-downloaded it about five times now. Each time it downloads nearly instantly, and gives me the same error. When I download it with an external download manager called GetRight, it gives me a strange error message about subtwo.exe being a webpage (which it most certainly is not ;) ). I'll post the exact wording soon. Posts: 11 | Registered: Wednesday, March 30 2005 08:00 |

I don't have a SubTerra\Data folder, nor a error.txt file. I downloaded the single file subtwo.exe from the 'another sequel update' thread in a few seconds. This is strange because I have a 5kbps dialup connection. I ran the downloaded executable and it gave me this error: subtwo.exe The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. CS:0536 IP:0168 OP:63 69 74 69 65 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. I ran Windows' Program Compatibility Wizard on it. It continued to give me the same error. I tried it on my actual Windows 98 machine, and it gave me this error: ...\subtwo.exe is not a valid Win32 application. Am I missing a file? I've downloaded the file several times to see if I somehow downloaded it badly. I downloaded it boh times with Mozilla Firefox's internal downloader. Windows seems to recognize subtwo.exe as a DOS program, and a faulty one. EDIT: Here's a picture of the window that opens when I try to start the subtwo.exe file. I'd be happy to make a few hundred extra levels for you, if I could only get ST2 working on my XP system. ;) Posts: 11 | Registered: Wednesday, March 30 2005 08:00 |

subtwo.exe The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. CS:0536 IP:0168 OP:63 69 74 69 65 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. I get the exact same error message when trying to run this version on XP Home. I've run the program compatibility wizard, but that didn't help. From what I can tell, my computer detects SubTerra 2 as a DOS program. [ramble]Origionally, I had accidentally downloaded the Linux version from the Crystal Shard site, which obviously didn't work. I thought then that ST2 only had a Linux version until I read the replies to my question on a Windows version of ST2. I then downloaded subtwo.exe from this thread, and got the above error message. Will there be a Windows SubTerra 2 version? If so, is there any particular release date for it? I really enjoyed the origional game, because of it's neat gameplay, level editor, and a generally fun atmosphere. I, unfortunately, only have Windows, so I can't play the Linux ST2.
