Cleric/Sorcerer Combination in Blades of Avernum

Has anyone created a Custom Character and spit their spell levels between Cleric and Sorcerer? I've done that with my current party, which looks like this:
SoldierArcherRogueCustom Cleric/SorcererThus far this combination seems to be the best of all the parties I've created and messed around with in VotD. But how would this fair in subsequent scenarious? Do the remaining three scenarious rely heavily upon higher-level clerics and sorcerers than I'm going to achieve with a cleric splitting his points between the two classes?
What are others' experiences creating a custom character template like this?

is this new game worth the $30? id like to know.
Yes. I don't know where you came up wtih $30 - the game is $25 (maybe you factored in shipping...). I've been playing games since the TRS 80 (and still managed to build a career and family, guess I wasn't that devoted;-) and Spiderweb Software seems to put the best games out for the price: nicely done stories with sufficient graphics and a decent user interface.

They're challening and fun: what more is there?

I like the idea of party-level competition. How about an adventure with points? My thinking isn't a story-based adventure but an activity or challenge-based adventure that tested combat, spell casting, and problem solving.

Points are awarded for successfully completing the challenge or problem, but a solution that deviated from the obvious (say killing evertyhing in your pass) would grant additional points.

For example: a scene with your low- to mid-level party facing off against five or six altered beasts. If they're slain you get the experience points, but if you find a way around the beasts without combat using spells you don't get the experience but rather points for an alternative solution?

Not as exciting as head to head gladiator combat (there's a reason the NFL wasn't invented by the Romans;-) but perhaps a different test of a player's ability to solve problems?
