quote:Hope you aren't referring to new players joining the RP. Because that would seriously discourage new players from joining or staying, some of whom probably have a lot of previous RPing experience and are on the verge of leaving because even upon reading and re-reading posts, they are unable to make heads or tails of the story, who is alive, dead, immortal, or otherwise. Incidentally, I posted that Fi was observing It and Ahonar wandering around at the chapel (granted I didn't say "at the chapel" in my posts but if sh was in the same place as It and Ahonar, it's a fairly logical conclusion to draw...) It would have been a good opportunity for It to notice Fi so she could've been drawn (unwillingly of course lol) into the group. -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen! I'm confused - was the lass that Jeran knocked out Fi? Because I don't think she was actually part of a group, she was alone watching It and Ahonar. I mean, if it works for the plot she can be that girl but I'd rather a logical explanation rather than just "go with it, it works for the plot". Were there other adventurers outside the chapel where It and Ahonar were? Was Fi just in the wrong place at the wrong time? Did someone godmod her into fighting without my knowledge?? -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen! Posts: 93 | Registered: Tuesday, December 11 2007 08:00 |

Something in her manner seemed to impress upon the lout that upsetting Fi would be unwise. "Th' next boat that goes directly t' Manarina don't leave for a few hours. Like, 5 or 6 hours. We'll make our way there but we stop all over th' place fer cargo and th' like, so's we takes a long time..." he rumbled. Fi raised an eyebrow, smirked and sketched a bow. "Well, thank you. I'll be off then..." she declared, moving with alacrity away from the docks. She meandered through the city for a time, before seeing the annoyingly familiar figure of It still following the old man around; however, he wasn't shouting about anything this time. Curiousity got the better of her; she decided to follow so she could see how the old man had managed to get It to shut up. -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen! Okay, I'll engineer that the next ship direct to Manarina doesn't come for ages, and wander the city and run into Ahonar/Rahona (same person I assume!) - then he can talk her into sticking around lol. -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen! "I should probably head back to Manarina and report my failure..." Fi mused, though the prospect didn't appeal to her one iota. She had managed to slip out of the inn without It seeing her, judging by the fact that she'd made it back to the docks on her own without him following her. She approached a large, burly man with gnarled hands and a massive ginger beard, who was bellowing orders to everyone around him. As he paused to draw breath, she spoke. "Excuse me, sir... which is the fastest boat to Manarina?" she asked, schooling her voice and features to a strictly businesslike demeanour. The huge man chose to ignore it, however, and eyed her with open lust. "Well, now... I'm going to Manarina meself. Lemme finish loadin and I'll take ye wherever ye needs ta go - free of charge!" he said in his rough approximation of a lusty whisper. "I doubt that you could take me anywhere I want to go. I need to get to Manarina, the faster the better - and don't pretend I carry these for decoration," Fi snapped, indicating her weapons. "Now, kindly answer my question. Which of these is the fastest ship to Manarina?" -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen! Posts: 93 | Registered: Tuesday, December 11 2007 08:00 |

Has Fi stuck with Vlad? Last I checked she was sneaking down the stairs of the inn they were staying in, trying to avoid being seen by It. -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen! Posts: 93 | Registered: Tuesday, December 11 2007 08:00 |

Except, John, that most of us have been explaining to Sgt Pocky exactly WHY attempted murder is ILLEGAL. Someone who holds onto a crazy idea like the idea that attempted murder should be legalised, even when there's a lot of proof and logic behind why it should be illegal, is trolling. -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen! Fi breathed a sigh of relief as Vlad passed out. "Well... you were good for something..." she murmured, scrawling a brief note - "Thanks for a good time! XX" - left some silver coins along side the note on the table, and slipped out of the room, hearing a familiar voice thundering about anama - "Does it ever talk about anything else??" - downstairs. She paused at the top of the stairs, peered down and sighed. Her eyes confirmed what her ears had suspected - It was downstairs, going beserk at some poor old man. "Gods be good, do I have to fix this mess up?" she wondered. She descended, trying to stay out of It's sight as much as possible. -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen! "Hmmm..." Fi purred, taking a drink for herself. "Why - and more over, how, did the anama bring the skyship down? I'm no mage but that attack definitely looked arcane to me..." she asked, hoping that Vlad was drunk enough to answer her questions and not screw her around. Or plain screw her. She tilted her head, smiled sweetly and waited, taking another drink in the bargain. -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen! Posts: 93 | Registered: Tuesday, December 11 2007 08:00 |

I think plate was crafted BECAUSE chainmail was too vulnerable to to arrows - if only they'd worked out a way to make the plate impervious to bodkins as well as hunter heads, it'd be fine lol! -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen! Okay, Pocky, so if I walked into your house with a loaded gun, aimed it at you, shot the gun but *just* missed you, all the while talking about how I intended to end your life, you'd be happy with me just walking back out into society to try again later? I sure as hell wouldn't! -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen! Posts: 93 | Registered: Tuesday, December 11 2007 08:00 |

Fi chuckled softly as the man announced his intention to inebriate everyone around, slipped forward through the crowd and linked arms with him. "Free drinks, hmmm? That sounds fun. Would these drinks be public, or could we go somewhere... private?" she purred. She'd seen the girl nearly neuter this fellow, so she figured he was probably not attached - particularly not to her. "Private would definitely suit me better..." she added, a twinkle in her eyes. "The things I do for information..." she thought, suppressing the urge to roll her eyes. -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen! I do take exception to the statements about women "trading their souls" for success in a male-dominated world. I have huge respect for women who take on roles that were traditionally male roles, and excel at them. Also, one of my male friends with whom I go to uni is studying to be a physics and math teacher - and he is the most creative, inventive and imaginative person I know. He runs D&D games for us every Monday night, and every session is amazing because he has a gift for creativity and imagination. I don't think you can just go "logic and science = male; creativity and imagination = female"; the world isn't divided up this way. -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen! Assuming, of course, that they're part of the same world. Incidentally, if GF and Avernum did exist on the same world, why do the worlds have different names? The world in which GF is set is Terrestia, the world in which Avernum/Exile is set is Ermariana. Ermariana has four continents so I don't think the "maybe they're different parts of the same world" argument would hold much water. And Iffy: Yes, the geography could change, but could you answer a question for me? How long did it take for pangaea to become the landmasses we know today? My geography is a bit rusty but I vaguely remember it being somewhere in the MILLIONS of years. So unless it's the same world millions of years later... No. No no no, so not going there... Fi stumbled and went down as the ground shook with impact. She grunted as she hit the ground, shook stray tendrils of her dark hair out of her eyes and rolled to her feet. "Something huge just hit... something the size of an airship, perhaps..." she mused as she made her way swiftly along the cramped alleyway she found herself in. A crowd had started to gather up ahead - she could hear the commotion from here. She slipped up to the corner of the alley and peered around, pausing momentarily in shock as the image of a burned out hulk of an airship lying in the middle of the town registered to her eyes. "How on earth... the anama couldn't do that, could they? I thought only magi commanded destructive magics..." she thought as she navigated the crowd, getting in close to the hulk. Robed anama men swarmed the hulk, and she thought she caught a brief glimpse of It, before she ducked back into the crowd, moving around to the other side of the hulk, her ears pricked for the sounds of any survivors. If the anama were of the mind to kill the men and women aboard the ship, she'd have something to say about that... -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen! quote:You shouldn't have to have more than one person ask you - I don't play WoW (yes, heathen! I know! LOL!) so I wouldn't have picked it, but if you'd been ripping from, say, Terry Brooks' Shannara series (or Word/Void, or Great Wars books) I'd have picked it and probably raised a question as to the suitability of ripping from an already-published source. Copyright, y'know. Some authors are so stringent on copyright they won't even let fan-fics be written. -------------------- Third generation geek and heathen!
