Does anyone know if putting skillpoints into a skill on character creation stops buying training in it later? I was going to try to get to as many trainers as possible before spending skillpoint in a skill to try and save skillpoints. I was wondering what skills this is viable for. Playing guardian on torment. Posts: 6 | Registered: Thursday, December 15 2005 08:00 |

The answer to this question depends on whether you're playing Geneforge 1, 2 or 3. Trainers work differently in each. in 3, putting skill points into the skill by level advancement before training does reduce the number of times you can train. using a canister or book does not, however, as i recall. Posts: 109 | Registered: Sunday, August 14 2005 07:00 |

but does for example putting skillpoints into for example strength _during character creation_ stop training in it later? not during level advancement. Posts: 6 | Registered: Thursday, December 15 2005 08:00 |

Yes. Skill points you spend during character creation are treated the same way as ones you spend later on, so it'll still prevent you from purchasing training. mind you, in GF3 i don't recall any trainers that train strength. it can pretty much only be increased by canisters or shaping iirc (and shaping is more or less the same as canisters). so, i would say don't hold off on buying strength if that's what you're aiming for. pretty much you can train in the combat skills, the spell skills, spells, and creations, and i don't think there's anything else that i can remember... Yes, in gf3, the only skills a guardian or a shaper need to train this way are blessing and spellcraft. Agent quick combat and spellcraft. Posts: 122 | Registered: Tuesday, May 31 2005 07:00 |
