Head to the Lair of the Creator, and then find the shade. Head west and fight your way past the three spawners. Beyond the last one is the Shaping Tome.

Giving it to him only gives you access to his house (except his private room), something you can do for a few living tools anyway.

Giving it to the Purity Officer in Dhonald's Keep gets you a much better reward.
