Might be a dumb question, but is there any way to do this? Perhaps there is an obvious way that I have missed somehow.

Go through an awful lot of trouble to make some of them, seems a shame to sell them when they go "X" and run out of charges. You can't buy back what you sell to vendors, which kinda blows.

Is there an anvil trick that I don't know about to recharge wands?

I am burning through a lot of wands... Bunches and bunches.

Adding points to missiles as a skill really does add to wand damage now, and not some piddling bit of damage either. Impressive levels of damage can be had with charged magic items like crystals and wands... Spell effect levels seems to have changed in such a way that the Guardian can clean house with a belt full of crystals and wands.

after reading your post, i decided to check out the script called g3itemschars.txt. i searched for wands, and while i don't think that you can recharge them, if you change the number in the number of charges line, you could give them a whole lot of charges. i will do so and see if it works.

i did it, and using part of Abbandon's cheat scripts to get the wand of death, i had 999 charges of it :D :D . so even if it is cheating, its not like it'll ruin the experience that much ;) .

If you have to cheat to play the game you might as well not play.

Why rob your self of the experience of learning and gaining skill?

If your not up to the challenge, why bother?

It's annoying that wands have so few charges, but it keeps the game balanced. I just wish there was a way to recharge somehow, but that could be balance breaking. Wands of Death are nasty in a Guardian's hands... And having all those shots would be game breaking... It's more realistic to save such a wand for a really dangerous foe and use lesser weapons on the not so dangerous foes.

In every game i play i always end up saving my heavy weapons for heavy foes, and when the game ends i still have a huge stash of weapons that have never been used. Perhaps i play on too low diff or the game is allready broken.

I never really used wands, as my own magic was sufficient. Wands would be fairly useful playiing as a guardian though. It would be a nice touch for them to be rechargeable, but they are common enough that it is not necessary.

Not entirely true about them being common enough.

In a couple of pitched battles, I have burned through every single wand, crystal, and most of the ammo I carried.

With out mentioning any spoilers, but when I invaded a Shaper that happens to live in a very large keep...

I burned through over 30 Icy Crystals, about a dozen Spray Crystals, two Wands of Death, two Corrupting Batons, a Null Wand, two Terror Wands, a Dicipline Wand, and a couple of reloads on a Reaper Baton. For those keeping track, that's a hell of a lot of fire power. And I killed... Everything. When I got done, nothing moved. Dead bodies everywhere. I would imagine, in real time, it would have looked like a scene out of the Matrix or something... Instead of bullets it was thorns and magical blasts.

A Guardian.

I have pushed the new missile damage system through it's paces.

It rocks!

Discipline Wands have always been very powerful, ever since GF 1. I actually tried a missile Guardian in GF 2, and sided with the Takers (so that I could make wands). It wasn't bad, although I think melee guardian is more powerful, and dies less often.

I don't know. I am doing hundreds of damage per round with my Guardian using magically charged items and batons.

Now, while my melee skill is not totally up to snuff, I do have a Guardian Claymore. I have good melee skills. And I get my ass handed to me when I go toe to toe. Something manages to hit me, I get stunned, or whatever, the melee system is wrong. Somehow. I have stated this. I can not put my finger on it exactly, but there is something not quite right. I can crank out maybe 100 to 150 damage on a good hit. I can easily clear 200 to 300 damage with a baton or a wand. And Shaped Lances? OUCH! But I do have my missile skills and dexterity cranked up a good bit.

Sit down some time and read the item descriptions. Missile weapons and magically charged weapons have higher average damages than most melee weapons. And before, in G1 and G2, pumping the missiles skill and pumping dex really didn't do much to add to damage. Now, it does. Damage ramps up considerably. In the beginning of the game, look at a bronze sword and then look at javelins, Icy Crystals, and batons. Now, remember, batons and thorns both have a damage total. Starting out still in the school, a Guardian can do 30 to 60 damage with just a crappy plain old javelin, a heck of a lot more damage than you could do with a dagger or a bronze sword.

And part of it is the difficulty you play in. In Torment, I have learned, if I let the monsters reach me, I am most likely dead. So my play style reflects that. With my Guardian, I use my creations to bottleneck a doorway or a narrow cave section or whatever, and then I hang back and fire with impunity. It's open season on whatever earns my ire. Nothing can reach me, nothing can hurt me. In the open, I fall back and let my creations engage when I can. If I am forced to toe to toe, I can quick swap to a nice sword or whatever and defend my self.
