Uhhh... still working on this. That color blue has a bit too much green in it, IMHO... *grins* One of these days, I'll get it. Is Irfanview free? is there something that can do a color-swap for free? any suggestions?

And scan it? Get the scan to be exactly the amount of pixels for the game to understand it? Puh-lease... >,>

Is there a tutorial somewhere on editing game graphics--specifically, getting the bmp (or whatever) files and restoring the edited ones to the game? I a graphics pro, so I don't need tips on the actual pixel manipulation, but I don't know how to import/export the various graphics to the game.

Also, if swapping out graphics is reasonably do-able, does anyone want to (or already does) host a repository of graphics?

Ditto both questions for the character icons.

On a Mac you simply use ResEdit. I have replaced/altered two of my PC graphics so far, and it works perfectly.

Unfortunately I don't know how you'd do this on a Windows.

The graphics are in .bmp, and even MS Paint can handle .bmp.

The only thing you need to take care of is to keep the names the same.

I'm on a Mac, and don't know how to open the graphics files--they're contained with a Blades of Avernum document file. Is the only way to access the bmps through ResEdit (which I didn't know survived the transition to OSX)? Can the BoA editor extract them and then reimport them?

From what I've gathered, you'll just need to open the in ResEdit, then paste into a new file, and save that file as .meg (which isn't a *real* format, but one created by Jeff). I could be wrong, though, as I'm on a PC, and haven't had to do this myself. :/

BoE uses .meg; I think BoA uses .cmg. If you're messing with PC graphics on a Mac, then you need to get ResEdit (which you need to have Classic mode to use.)

Once you get ResEdit, simply backup BoA Art (or whatever it's called) and drag one onto ResEdit, and you can copy/paste whatever you want.

Place the changed Art file thing in the same folder it came from and you're done.

For some reason, it is hideously difficult to get correct colors with MSPaint... they always end up as some odd shade of grey or something. Maybe its cause Im using win 98. Any ideas?

I think it's because of the palette the graphic's using. Copy it, and paste to a new file, that should do it.

Thirty seconds in Photoshop produced this one.

...though I personally wouldn't trade my own hot pink pussycat for the world.

THANK YOU! I knew _someone_ with Photoshop and 30 seconds time and a good heart could do that. Thanks!
