 Anyone other than me wondering if there will be new types of weapons? I'm gewtting sick of just swords and spears! Who agrees with me?! :D
I hope we get more spells as well. Maybe some useless but fun ones, like barriers aap. We always get dispel barrier but not create barrier. Or something like Shockwave of Firewall. Dude, that would be sweet. :D

There will be 2-3 more spells but no more 'real' weapon types. You can use graphics for all sorts of things, so you could call something the Ravager Axe, and give it an axe graphic, but you'd still have to choose whether it was melee, pole, bow, or thrown weapon.

Well, technicly all weapons fall under those actagories anyway. If it isn't on a stick its melee, if it is its pole. I'm glad we finaly get to make the missions we do. All monsters and items we create ourselves. I hop't go too power hungy... ;)

*The* Weapon types are:
Bashing Weapons
Slashing Weapons
Pole Weapons
Throwing Weapons
Bows

In Avernum series,it's almost like this. However Slashing and Bashing weapons should be in diffrent categories,as there *is* some difrences between a hammer an a katana...

Yeah, but still, it all boils down to melee or pole. All weapons actualy go under melee, but we have to have some seperation. Thrown, etc. isn't much of a problem. Just add darts or ninja stars lol. I would just like to actualy see bashing weapons and axes. and I know you can make whatever you want with the editor, but still. In the original scenarios it would be nice, no? ;)

I gave up the hope long ago.And in Exile seires, there were too many useless spells, like Coordinates,Spark,Stumble and many low level spells.Actualy i would like to see useless spels like Slow,Terror and Forcecage either to be powered up or replaced with more usefull spells.
But i do miss stuff like Confragulation(sp?),Antimagic Cloud,Major Blessing and Mass Slow/Charm/Curse,Wound,Divine Thud and Death Arrows.

Melee weapons take very different skills to use. In fact, even two different swords can have very different techniques. But that aside, there are a few weapons that don't fit neatly into any category. A very long whip, for example, isn't melee and it certainly isn't a polearm.

—Alorael, who has no problems with the weapon system. There are weapons, and you can hit things with them. How much more do you need? If your hunting salad bowl doesn't neatly fit any category, just put it in one and know that players will thank you for sparing them an extra skill to learn.

What would flails and hammers count as in BoA?

Hammers are melee. Flails don't appear, but I'd make them melee as well.

—Alorael, who actually wouldn't make flails at all unless there was a plot-related reason. The graphic problem with using them would be a bit odd.

XYZ, I happen to use Spark and Stumble and Minor Poison a lot when playing as my low-level character.

What do you mean? I don't see a problem there. It's no worse than the graphic wielding a mace when they are actually wielding a sword.

Actually, this would be quite easy to rectify with a few simple graphic edits. Merely take the PC graphic sheet, change the swords to maces/hammers, and change to the graphic when you equip a weapon of that sort. One could also change the spear to a halberd or something else to make the sheet doubly useful. Hm.

I always make a character or two that has Mage Spells at lv 3 at character creation,so i have no need for Spark or Stumble. And i didn't say that Minor Poison would be useless, but you rarely face magic resistant/immune things at start.

But when you're trying to conserve spell points, Spark is useful. And stumble or goo are good for binding up enemies.

But Spark doesn't even have the cut to hurt slimes, and there is difrence of 2-3 spell points between Spark and Flame that is much more effective, and Stumble and Goo are only usefull(at the stage the party is low-lv) against imps and Bojar(the slime dude). When you start to face nasty groups o' spellcasters, you will alredy have Web,unless you are Anama.

Edit:Actualy,Stumble and Goo are useless even against imps and Bojar, because they will still cast the spell, unless they haste themselves, then webbing them is usefull.
