I recently purchased BoA, and I have a question. Are BoE scenarios compatible? Posts: 9 | Registered: Tuesday, December 6 2005 08:00 |

Technically, you can use the scenario editor to convert a BoE scenario into a BoA scenario (I don't know if you need the scenario's password). But the result, without a lot of editing (and ultimately redesigning the scenario almost from scratch), is buggy, unstable, and completely unplayable more often than not. -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. The BoA/BoE scenario converter is a crude utility at best. It's really only been used sucessfully a couple times, and only then there was still tens to hundreds of hours of work to do. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! One of which was RoR, and the other two? -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. That would be 9 variations on point B... A very informative work, by the way. Rather a tutorial for designing a scenario. -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. RoR wasn't one of them, actually. The only thing that ended up being ported was the outdoors; everything else had to be pretty much completely remade. :P The only true ports have been VoDT, ASR, ZKR and 9VOPB, and even those have been modified a fair bit. Me: Ooh! I can port RoR- it will be simple. ... ... ... Me: Well, let's say I just fix up the towns... ... ... ... Me: Well, maybe the towns are completely destroyed, but the outdoors look good. ... ... ... Me: O... kay. Turns out the scripts are broken. And, for that matter, it would be neat if I made a totally different scenario... -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

quote:Meaning you believe Jeff used his own porting tool? Jeff's BoA scenarios aren't excellent by a long shot, but they're too good to have been ported without a lot of redesigning... -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. Yes, Jeff used his porting tool. He said so during beta testing. You are correct in saying there was a lot of extra work. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |
