Ok a simple question here... I'm not sure if anyone clarified this yet but oh well here it is again. Is the use of custom sounds going to be allowed? I mean in maybe weapon sounds, ambience sounds, other special stuff? Or will we just have the regular ones? I had ideas to put like a singing lady on the street, and then apply a sound (maybe through scripts) to her location, so when you got near her, you could actually here her singing. Possible? -------------------- DEMON PLAY, DEMON OUT! Posts: 1582 | Registered: Wednesday, November 13 2002 08:00 |

It's probably unlikely, as sound files are massive (1-10 Mb/min), and I remember Jeff saying that he was quite determined for file sizes to remain small. -------------------- Riot Shields Voodoo Economics It's just business Cattle prods And the IMF I trust I can rely on your vote Posts: 530 | Registered: Sunday, September 1 2002 07:00 |

We could operate on the honor system. Each scenario deesigner tells people what music they must listen to when play the scenario. Anyone who fails to comply could be sued for lack of following the scenario guidelines! :D C'mon, it could work! -------------------- The Home of 8-bit Theater! Some cool WoT art here Nono! TM supplied midi files for echoes asking you to play them (which I didn't, co I couldn't get them to loop) -------------------- Riot Shields Voodoo Economics It's just business Cattle prods And the IMF I trust I can rely on your vote Posts: 530 | Registered: Sunday, September 1 2002 07:00 |

Nicol Bolas: I wasn't really talking about actual songs. Nothing like modern songs or anything recorded for that matter. I was gunna record something myself (with some help from the girlfriend) and then convert/edit. And it was just for a lady in the streets of a major town singing for money. Nothing big but oh well... a 400kb loop would have worked but I guess not. Midi files are much smaller thn .Wav, .voc etc... For instance, a four and a half Midi file is only about 320kb. That's tiny! I want to know if BoA will have Midi support. -------------------- Leave me alone. Posts: 123 | Registered: Sunday, August 25 2002 07:00 |

Jeff seems completely opposed to sounds. It doesn't entirely make sense, but he's the one who makes the decisions. —Alorael, who also thinks that a few MIDI files couldn't do much harm, and special sound effects could add almost as much as custom graphics. Also, a short silent "sound" would be a great delay in BoA movies made in the BoE style. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

This is why I'm a "do-it-yourself"er, and most of my motivation behind MC. That is, besides the respect and admiration of my peers. Anyways, sorry for the gross gramarical errors in my last post. I meant to say "a four and a half minute midi file." Besides, if Jeff can implement any kind of sound into the application, it wont be much more code for custom sounds. - Motekye, who's taken a liking to Alorael's form of posting, will stop now before he feels the wrath of everything. -------------------- Leave me alone.
