I can find no way to insert tab stops or tables into posts in this forum. HTML is not enabled so I can't solve the problem that way. This would be a useful feature in certain posts. Posts: 292 | Registered: Monday, November 13 2006 08:00 |

I think some people use "code" to insert text that they want kept with tab formatting, but I never tried it. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

The code tag gives you fixed-width text, so you can use spaces to, well, space text. There's no better solution for tables or tabs. —Alorael, who supposes one could pick a certain number of spaces to begin each paragraph and write entirely in code blocks if one wanted to. It doesn't seem very reader-friendly, though. [ Tuesday, April 08, 2008 21:07: Message edited by: Blades of Grass ] Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Also this might work as a tab stop. It's & # 0 9 ;. I'm not sure if it works here though. Posts: 8752 | Registered: Wednesday, May 14 2003 07:00 |

The easiest solution would just be to roll up an small script that generates the fixed width tables for you, complete with the code tags. Then you could input the data, run the script, and copy the output into the posting window. -------------------- Lt. Sullust Quaere verum Posts: 2462 | Registered: Wednesday, October 3 2001 07:00 |

HTML was at one point enabled in the old Nethergate forum. Maybe try it there and see what happens? -------------------- "What can you do with an anthropology degree other than study people?" "...Hunt people?" Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

As far as I can tell, the Code tags just preserve formatting, they don't enable the running of scripts. Hopefully they will enable the padding of text with spaces, to give the same effect as tab stops. I didn't intend for the script to be placed within the blocks. Rather, the script is to be run independently to generate your content for you, then you copy and paste it into the browser. Allowing users to post html or scripts would probably be a very bad thing... -------------------- Lt. Sullust Quaere verum Posts: 2462 | Registered: Wednesday, October 3 2001 07:00 |

My experience is that pasting anything into a post will cause the loss of all tab stops and other formatting. Other forums, like the Ironworks Vaults, do have provision for html. Posts: 292 | Registered: Monday, November 13 2006 08:00 |

Any decent text editor will allow you to convert the tab stops to spaces. Inside [ code ] tags, this will have the desired effect. -------------------- Geneforge 4 stuff. Also, everything I know about Avernum | Avernum 2 | Avernum 3 | Avernum 4 Posts: 1104 | Registered: Monday, March 10 2003 08:00 |
