I stand corrected. So it appears that upon hitting rock bottom, Bush has found himself a gol-durn shovel. :D

Jim Webb beats George Allen in Virginia, winning the Senate for the Democrats. Or so I just heard.

So the opposition has both houses now. And the president's approval rating is somewhere in the low forties, as far as I know.

"Mandate."

It's no mandate until I'm elected. Or Kyras in 2024. Either way would be good.

I'd really like to know how America would handle the crisis of the president vetoing everything just for fun. Would it lead to legislative paralysis or would Republicans and Democrats unite in the name of getting something done? Would that be a high crime and misdemeanor?

—Alorael, who wonders whether Democrats or Republicans would be the first to break ranks. He suspects the former, and it wouldn't take as many Democrats to get anything done for the Republicans.

As the Constitution allows, they could ban together to impeach and convict him. Even if an abuse of presidential power wasn't an actual crime, clever lawyers could always find something to accuse him of. I just think the two parties, which I think are becoming increasingly similar, would rather take down the meddling president than resolve their differences.

*clears throat* Congratulations to the Democrats, but really I couldn't care less as long as somebody gets the job done right.

Before any real giddiness happens, remember that any transfer of Congressional power will take place in 53 days. Until then it is business as usual.

The best two things that happened this election:

Joe Lieberman became an Independent after being kicked out by his own party.

Rumsfeld resigned. Skeletor is incompetent. Cobra rules !!!!

Lieberman's independent run wasn't terribly surprising. His victory was, at least to me.

—Alorael, who doesn't know enough about that particular election to know whether he should be happy, content, or disappointed. From what he's heard, quite possibly the last.

George Bush makes Richard Nixon look like an innocent schoolgirl. He's done so much wrong it's difficult to know where to even begin.

Lieberman won the election because the Republicans buried their own man in the Connecticut race. Connecticut Republicans generally voted Lieberman; all he needed was marginal Democrats and independents to take the state.

Lamont was the better man, but eh.
