Completely insane. This lands on the second page after a day?

Anyway, I have bad news. I lost 500 words. Not to file corruption or anything like that, but to an inflated wordcount estimate that has now been adjusted.

But I'll get back to 15k today - and beyond!

*sigh*... I'll return to my story idea one day. But all the same, good luck everybody else!

Maybe I should do a word count for my BoA scenario...

Just for a quick update:

It appears that Riibu and I are the only ones still writing - unless Milla and TGM are opting for stealth and will snipe our wordcounts out of the blue come December. But TGM edited out his section from the wiki, so I don't know what he's up to.

I passed 25k yesterday - suddenly, it feels like going downhill. I hope that won't include the quality. 27k now, and the third milestone is on the horizon!

Sad news: I'm going to give up for this year. My new working schedule simply doesn't allow me to write so much that I could reach the 50k goal.

I rock.

And I rewrote the PPP's parser this weekend and integrated the site with Drupal.

And now I need sleep.

To giving up! ^_^

Well, I'm not giving up yet... But I'm pretty sure I'm not going to make it to the end this year. A bit of a shame, but -- oh, who the hell I'm trying to kid? (myself, probably) I want to win, but I hate writing that godawful story so much!

And Aran's too good a progress is annoying me. -_-

Maybe I should switch languages to Finnish. :\

True, true. I very well might set another month up to be my NaNo equivalent, 'cause this November just wasn't going to happen.

Of course, I do still want to put forth the idea of a BoASceDeMo.

An excerpt:
quote:

Rosalie walked along musty hallways with a bunch of roses in her arms. She looked around herself, but there were no doors to walk through. The hallway continued and Rosalie’s feet were cold. She noticed that she wasn’t wearing anything else than a small nightie. The roses in her arms started withering and Rosalie hurried, knowing that she had to find water soon. Suddenly the roses started prick her and Rosalie droppen them out of fright. The roses broke as they hit the stone floor and Rosalie couldn’t continue on anymore, or the shards of the roses would tear her bare feet up. Rosalie turned around, but all there was behind her was a hard wall.
The first part is in Finnish and below is the same in English. In Finnish it's 88 words, in English 116, together they're 204. I think I'll keep both. I'm thinking, perhaps I'll first write in Finnish so I know what's going on better, and I can get inside their minds better, and then translate all that to English, so it's still readable, and keep both because I'm getting desperate. 10,000 words late soon. :(

That's Rosalie dreaming by the way. After this she gets woken up and one of my favorite scenes follows. Jonathan is being such a bas- rascal. ^^ I've been waiting for this one. I wish I was more excited actually. But I'll get this story done, I will.

I must. *grim detemination* ... *or something*

EDIT: And I've ran myself into a problem. There's not really any good substitute for 'lady' in Finnish. How is everyone going to speak to her? I don't want to say 'rouva', that's too.. old for her. She's not even 16 yet, dammit. 'Neiti' isn't very good either, it's too common. 's just 'miss'... Ylhäisyys, maybe. :\

Finnish can kill a thread? Further arguments for learning it. That would be so much more original than using images. PERKELE!

On another note: 47308. Yes, the last week I did practically nothing. It always turns out like this somehow.

On the plus side, it keeps the whole challenge exciting right up until the last minute.

Well. I did it. :D :P :D :P

I got into a good roll and just kept going with it, and since I got into a good stretch of story I kept going even further, and then... I got 50,000 words. The story's not done, but I won and now I may take my well-deserved break.

I sense a pattern here:
I start off with a huge headstart, you want to give up about half way, then I stop working for a week, you catch up... and then ye are in Scotland afore me. :P

Anyway, I'll finish tonight :D

The Breaking (Nano 2006).

Technically, I've earned this:

IMAGE(http://arancaytar.ermarian.net/system/files/nano_2006_winner_large.gif)

By putting in just over 50,000 words. In practice, the last chapter ends in mid-sentence, and I'm going to need some time to finish it. I'll bring the story to some preliminary closure by tomorrow, and then finish the actual ending at a later time.

If you get a double-post for that, then I get one more post to parade my silly little novel: Rosalie&Jonathan

A cookie to anyone who can come up with a better title for me. One less explicit...

Yay Aran! I'll be sure to read it as soon as exams end.

How much longer do you anticipate it getting?

Congratulations to you both. But I expect you to actually finish your stories sometime in the near future.

---

Let's see... Riibu and Arancaytar both reached 50,000 words in 6 chapters. Episode 3 currently has a mere 17,972 words in 15 chapters.

Clearly, Dikiyoba needs to work on being more verbose.

Well, you could just have members like Salmon and Nioca make up the bulk of the dialog. :P

Note that my novel is structured as

novel
  |
  +-- chapter
       |
       +-- scene

While Dikiyoba's scripts are structured as

episode
  |
  +-- part
       |
       +-- chapter

So a better comparison would be 18k in 3 parts to 50k in 6 chapters (or 15 chapters to 24 scenes)...

Tonight? 53-54k, most likely. When it reaches the ending I had planned, somewhere between 65-70k.

At least this year there isn't any atrocious word-padding inside it that needs to be removed before it can be properly read. The edited version could actually end up slightly longer than this.
