Serenity is good, perhaps even very good, but not great. One can live one's life without seeing it and still die happily. Actually, I think this is true of all movies, but I think even the serious film lovers would agree on this one. —Alorael, who still recommends it. Think Star Wars with less cringe-worthy dialogue and more cynicism. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Just saw it. I thought it was well written and the characters were creative -- quite impressive for movies these days. Some stretches of internal logic, but what can one expect. One of my top movies of the year thus far, and that's not saying much. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power!! You'll have to pardon the vagueness of my original post, but I didn't want to spoil it. The movie seemed to leave open the possibility of a sequel, and I hope one comes along. -------------------- Reports of my demise are extremely accurate. Given the movie's poor ticket sales, a sequel is unlikely. —Alorael, who wonders what kind of cult following is required to turn a failed television series turned failed movie into a sequel. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

The fact that they had to put it out under a title different than the television series was a bad sign to begin with. —Icshi, who once saw about five minutes of Firefly on the Sci-Fi Channel by accident and regretted every moment of it. -------------------- The A.E. van Vogt Information Site My Tribute to the Greatest Writer of the Science Fiction Golden Age Posts: 907 | Registered: Monday, July 15 2002 07:00 |

From my understanding, the series was actually pretty good, but Fox made a mess out of the order of the episodes and then cancelled it. The reason for the movie was strong fan support. Just not strong enough, evidently. —Alorael, who has liked the Firefly episodes he's seen. He's also not much of a TV critic, since those would be the closest he's come to watching a TV serial (or release of such a show on DVD, as the case may be).
