Sniff...Ever noticed those little words right under your name. They say some random level which you have reached. But for some of us...those words...never...CHANGEDD!!! Wahhh... Anywho...I suppose I should be typeing some more posts then shouldn't I? This is just a thought. I'm wondering if anyone has thought about starting an RPG Topic. Perhaps we can get some carefree hours of enjoyment out of it. Any takers? Sigh... Long live Misc. Shouldn't there be something for time spent? Like...Really old citizen of Exile? Careful. If you make nonsense posts to bring up your title, you get canned, cutting short any such ambitions. That said, rp topics made for raising post counts generally suck, as do any other topics with that purpose. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! An RP topic sucking? Ack! Never heard of? Especially not one of mine! That would be horrible. Who here remembers my last one? Someone tell this man the truth! And deliver unto him thine holy word! Come on people...speak up, who remembers it? Where's Alorael? He knows...And Imban. And...I think maybe TM was in it...wa's e? -------------------- ...well I thought it was funney...? didn't you? Well, yes, but Mung did start the RP thread held up as the paragon of RPs. I believe he then missed most of the execrable followups that plagued Spiderweb. —Alorael, who has always thought of a low member number as its own reward. Well...alright. I suppose a low member number would do that a bit towards being rather nifty:D I need to make a few more posts though. So I can have a nifty little title as well. How long has it been since the start of this board? Maybe...5 years? And I feel rather lucky to have avoided those topic reprecusions from my RPG. Now that I'm here I think I'll start work on another one. It might take a bit of time. But I need to know who exactly would be intrested in joining up. Actually I think that was the title of it. "join us"...hehe..catchy:D And thanks for the praise A.(EDIT Alorael) (noticing once again that I can't spell your name...sigh...) It's been a little over three years since the start of this particular incarnation of the SW boards, and from what I understand, almost four years since the start of the SW boards in general. And some of us have very high member numbers but also very high post counts. This is due to what I like to call "active participation," also known as "spam." :P [ Monday, January 10, 2005 08:48: Message edited by: Kelandon ] -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I seemed to have joined a few months after it started...then I couldn't get here because of lack of internet connection. But before that I was able to get up to my Citizen of exile title. A good RP would be pretty cool. Just out of interest, what was Mung's last one called? And also Kel, some of us have "voicing a relevant opinion and helping newbs" and some of us have "quintuple posting of various questionable images". And for some reason, people care about their post counts. -------------------- Aut Tace Aut Loquere Meliora Silencio Posts: 1487 | Registered: Sunday, February 10 2002 08:00 |

RP's are cool as long as there are some good inputs. If there aren't, it just sucks. -------------------- When you think you can't get any lower in life and hit rock bottom, God hands you a shovel. Mung's first RP was called "Join Us - Everybody Needed and Welcome." It got so long that it was actually locked and restarted as new topics several times. I vaguely recall a second RP by Mung, but if there was one, it never achieved the same status. —Alorael, who considers tasteful but meaningless posting to be an art. i was there. it was called, simply, Join Us... or something to the extent. i don't remember the plot(s) anymore, but that alone, being about my second RP, taught me a lot about actual RPing. nowadays, we have a lack of time/interest/intellect, IMHO. i used to visit this forum just for the RPs - now there's not much for me to spend time on here... oh well, things will pick up shortly. -------------------- Polaris - Weather balloons, ninjas, and your big daddy Wise Man. Yeah. Mung's first RP was really good. There were several other good ones after it, like New Silvar Inn (for a long time), the two-kingdoms-and-one-inn-between-them one (forget the name), Alec's (or was it Drakey's) factional/character one set in the Empire... ...and about 100 craptastic ones. It was so bad that at one point I had to actually impose a hard limit on the number of RPs running at once so as to curb the trend of starting a new asstastic RP every 7 days. Actually yes, that was the title. Glad someone here has a better momory then me:D As things are I think I will start another RPG. There seems to be enough intrest in it that I would have a rather good turn out. I just need to figure out what exactly that will be about. So. You may have to wait a week or so. Or maybe less. Perhaps less. I might just go home, to my darkened room and type away on my laptop that seems to have lost the ability to use it's space bar. And perhaps I'll bring back some information from before. That seemed to go over rather well. As usuall, the same rules apply. Those who were there remember. Everyone has to go through an introduction and test post before they can be in it. You have to know what you're talking about when you do, no simply makeing a character to have one. And with so many rpg's today, no godding. But this rule will be a little bit lax. As long as you realize that there will always be people that are bigger and better then you ( not where you are, of course, just somewhere out there) your character should be allowed. Have some humility people. But for christs sake be creative. No drab barbarian with a hammer and a dark-elf friend who's fraught with images of his demon tormenter. Have some originality. And with that I leave you to make your characters. There are no limitations on race or class as long as it's in the known lexicon of creatures and jobs (ranging from Tolkein to Rice to Rowlings) Enjoy. More later. -------------------- ...well I thought it was funney...? didn't you? Posts: 296 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

First: Mung, you realize you're only slightly more than halfway to your next title. It's not coming super quick. But anyway, we really haven't had a "successful" RP since I joined in June, except for maybe Valley of Thunder, which was pretty much complete by that time. I'd say we're about due, though I don't know if I'd want to join just yet. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

quote:*chokes* It wasn't exactly... 'complete'. More like 'expired on the floor'. A bit sad, and perhaps the reason why we haven't had a successful RP since. The last I recall was "To Slay a Dragon", which went a similar way. 250! grr...ah...I can wait then:D I have an inspiration. And for it to work I need some of the old spidweb fogies to help me out with it. How about...now get this...an Exile Rpg...huh? huh? Ya see, we have a party and we go through the game.(Exile II of course). But to do this I seriously need the help of those who know the game far better then me. To be honest it's been a while since I played it. And, for a fact, I never finished it. Which is rather sad, I know that. but I've never finished a spidweb game. Sigh... Well, could some of you people help me? I'm talking to like. Drakey, Saunders, Aloreal, and all those others who know what their about. There is, of course, a limit to the number of people in a party so there may be another team doing the same thing as us. Who's with me? Limitations would be the same as the game. And no, you can't use the cheat with that gives you unlimited points...ha:D If I have people willing to help me then this sounds as if it'll go fairly well. And I don't think images will be limited to those in the game. You can have your own character description. And now that I think about it there should probably be little restriction on skills and what not. People get fed up with "leveling" and hey, this isn't D&D now is it:P free play is my type. So. yah, who can help me out? -------------------- ...well I thought it was funney...? didn't you? Posts: 296 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

quote:I shudder to think numbers might be involved in such an RP. Can't we get rid of the points/skills/levels entirely? They have no purpose when writing a story anyway, and when you can't exactly "win", then what good does it do to throw all those freaky dice damage scores around? They're only an excuse for people to write badly... Edit: Besides, it's technically impossible to use dice at all, without establishing a Game Master who decides on everything. True, but in regards to the game that I'm proposing then it would be difficult for a party to actually run the adventure with infinate skills and what not. That's a bit unfair to the monsters that want to kill us. What I think is that whoever want to do this rpg should create an anternate save game for exile 2 and run through the game with the party, a character representing each of the other players here. That way you can keep up with what's actually going on and you can keep in the same place with the adventure. This, in retrospect, is actually one of my better ideas. If I can base the rpg on a game that we all know and love then all the better. If we can put ourselves into that place of the adventurer rather then standing back and stareing through a computer screen at the little people makeing strange and intresting noises then all the better. I would love to be able to do this. But in order for it to be done I need to find people who actually are willing to do what is required to make it a good game. And a good game it shall be. And long at that if we do it right. So, who would be intrested with it? I'm sure that most of you have the editer for exile 2 so there can be an increase in initial skills, magics, what not. You can speciallize in a field. Bow, weapon, magic, etc. But you can't be a single man army (which, by the way, is a rather fun way to go through the game:) But that all can be taken care of once we start the game. For now I just need to prepare a party. I would prefer those of you who have already gone through on of my rpg to help. and those who have been here as long as me.(by the way again, I noticed that the first members were here little more then two months before me...kick arse:). And I would also prefer people (or at least one person) who knows where and what he/she is doing in the game. We need someone who can find their way. So, as a recap, I propose a game that models the story of Exile 2 exactly, including all in game content and what not. So, who's with me? -------------------- ...well I thought it was funney...? didn't you? Posts: 296 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |
