I read somewhere that Geneforge was origanally(however you spell it) supposed to be scenario based. It seems that this would do a lot towards making the game more interesting if the player could become a designer. Maybe someday Jeff will come out with BoG. Please take this with a grain of salt as the probability of this would be negative if that were possible :) [ Thursday, October 07, 2004 17:58: Message edited by: m's devotee ] Posts: 564 | Registered: Wednesday, April 14 2004 07:00 |

I kinda like you, so I'll spare you the sarcasm. Other people have mentioned this before, and it seems at least moderately likely to happen. I'm not sure if it's such a great idea, but eh. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

It'll happen. Whether it's a good thing or not, after G3 and A4 (or whatever he's doing), will come BoG. You can bet my socks on it. -------------------- Aut Tace Aut Loquere Meliora Silencio Posts: 1487 | Registered: Sunday, February 10 2002 08:00 |

It would be too similar to Blades of Avernum to make any money. Posts: 1233 | Registered: Wednesday, October 3 2001 07:00 |

Negative, the difference between GeneForge and Avernum is vast. Posts: 60 | Registered: Sunday, September 19 2004 07:00 |

(EDIT: Directed at Slith's comment) Not really. It would use much the same scripting engine, but the gameplay would be rather different. Creations vs. a party, real-time vs. turn-based, etc. The advantage that BoG would have is that the GF engine can handle more elaborate graphical changes — custom sfx of varying numbers of frames, for instance. Also, since it would be so similar (in terms of programming, at least) to BoA, there would be much less of a wait for people to learn to script. I think it would be kind of neat. Jeff said he'd consider it (in a thread that's either buried in BoA or BoA Editor or deleted). Yeah I thought that it was Kel that had referenced it before- Wow- I really didn't expect so many people to expect it. Wouldn't graphics be a lot harder to do? Posts: 564 | Registered: Wednesday, April 14 2004 07:00 |

BoA graphics were tougher to make that BoE graphics. People can adapt. I think, if Jeff can't come out with another interesting series of games, BoG would be his best bet after A4 and G3. Maybe after that he'll make G4. *gulp* -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

I think I can just about put up with a lack of creativity in an A4, but to create a G4 would, most likely, really end up a travesty of nature. I mean, when taking into account the themes in 1 and 2, a 4 would be over-cliched. Which I really didn't think was possible. -------------------- Aut Tace Aut Loquere Meliora Silencio Posts: 1487 | Registered: Sunday, February 10 2002 08:00 |

It's a bad idea, in my opinion. GF was great. but lets not kid ourselves - Exile/Avernum is what we are all here for. -------------------- "I am a living sign..." Thus endeth this post. Posts: 2864 | Registered: Monday, September 8 2003 07:00 |

Wrong thread, Thuryl? Geneforge 2 was already editor based - it had a 'campaign editor' that looked like the 3D BoA Editor. Still, I think that it would be too soon after BoA to make BoG. He'd have to wait about five years. -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Happy Happy Joy Joy desperance.net - We're Everywhere ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! I find myself rather curious about the "campaign editor" myself. Is this available? it's nowhere on the GF site and I'd only heard that was the intention in the first place- like I said in my first post in this thread. Posts: 564 | Registered: Wednesday, April 14 2004 07:00 |

I believe Drakey was a betatester. I doubt the editor was publicly released. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

I vaguely remember seeing a screenshot of a Geneforge campaign editor -- I believe it was right before either Geneforge or Geneforge 2 came out. Jeff probably took it down because he figured it wasn't appropriate for public consumption. -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... Posts: 508 | Registered: Thursday, May 29 2003 07:00 |
