How long does it take to program a game like this? I mean, i wanted to learn how to program myself and i thought, "the best way to learn is to make a rpg.", but now that i have a "functioning" rpg game, actually writing the story/adventures/keeping track of what the party did/graphics/sound effects/... geez, i feel it's never gonna finish. I thought to myself, once the "engine" is finished, the other things would just fall into place, but it's just so overwhelming. Once you make the game, is it really worth the money that you spent in making it? Your games are the best rpg games of it's genre out there, and i was wondering if the income that it produces is "just enough to get by" or "living happily". (I feel weird asking that, but it doesn't hurt to ask, right? :) )

I know how you feel. I'm making a small 'Educational' program, and it's taken me forever to get as far as I am now. I'm also making a BoA scenario - and that takes FOREVER as well.

Depending on length, quality and, of course, the language you program in... at least six to eight months worth of hard work to make something anywhere near decent.

Some people can do it faster, some slower, but it all depends on what you are doing, how good you are, language and how much debugging you have to do afterwards.

Jeff doesn't read these forums, so don't expect a response. You can email him personally and see if he's willing to talk, or you can take advice from here that I am totally unqualified to give.

—Alorael, who also thinks a look at Jeff's shareware tips can't go amiss. It may not tell you everything you want to know, but it's sure to tell you something.
