Guys, I only just got the email from spiderweb saying that BoA for windows was out. And it's like - I've had it for over a month now!The warm, lazy Summer months have come around again. The sun is out again, even here in Seattle. And we at Spiderweb Software are, like we do every year, recommending that you spend these happy days staying inside and playing computer games. For example ... * Blades of Avernum Out For Windows Our fastest selling rpg in a long time is finally out for Windows! Get ready for unlimited adventures. Prepare for tales of sword and sorcery in a world at war. On one side, the mighty empire that controls all known lands. On the other, determined rebels hiding in caverns far underground. Pick up a blade and take on cunning and powerful foes. And then, when victory is yours, go online and download more free adventures. Or use the powerful Blades of Avernum Editor to make quests of your own! Spiderweb Software announces the release of Blades of Avernum, their new fantasy role-playing system for PC Windows. Blades of Avernum comes with several large, exciting adventures: In A Small Rebellion, you are sent to infiltrate and destroy a band of rebels against the Empire. The question: will you fight them, or join them? In The Valley of Dying Things, you delve deep into an enormous, abandoned school of magic, looking for the secret to a deadly plague. In The Za-Khazi Run, you rocket down a subterranean river, racing against time to reinforce a besieged fort. First, though, you must outwit the many powerful, bizarre creatures living along the route. And in Diplomacy With the Dead, you have to help a remote city deal with the powerful vampire who lives just outside town. This turns out to be much more complicated than it sounds. And, when you have won these adventures, the promise of more free fun on the net means that your journey need never end. Anyone can use Blades of Avernum's editor to make fascinating adventures with cunning characters. Deal with monsters that work together and send out patrols to hunt you. Fight deadly bosses that summon aid, flee when they're outmatched, and surprise you with nasty tricks. Blades of Avernum is limited only by the imagination of the designers. It will be the nastiest and most clever adventure makers versus you. Don't let them win! Blades of Avernum is $25, or $32 with a hint book. Registered owners of Blades of Exile get $10 off. Experience with earlier Avernum games is completely unnecessary. System requirements: PC running Windows 98 or later, 30 MB free RAM, 40 MB hard drive space, 800x600 screen resolution with 16 bit color. A Macintosh version is also available. Screenshots and the demo are available at: http://www.avernum.com/blades/index.html * New Scenarios For Blades of Avernum The scenario designers of Blades of Avernum are a hardy lot. They have already created three new adventures: The Cave of No Return, Babysitting, and Roses of Reckoning. These scenarios, and others upcoming, can be found at: http://www.avernum.com/blades/scen_list.html If you would like to make your own adventures (and have a shot at the cash prizes from the Scenario Design Contest), you can get the Blades editor at: http://www.avernum.com/blades/scen_workshop.html * Macintosh Blades of Avernum Updated The Macintosh version of Blades of Avernum has been updated to v1.1. This update fixes a bunch of bugs and enables you to play scenarios made with the newest version of the scenario editor. Upgrading is recommended. You can get the full demo at: http://www.avernum.com/blades/index.html and a patch to update older versions is at: http://www.avernum.com/blades/techsupp.html * New Blades of Exile Scenarios Blades of Avernum's predecessor, Blades of Exile, is still alive and running. The newest adventure for Blades of Exile is Areni, and Adventurer's Club 3, and Bandits II have been promoted to Solid scenarios. * What's Coming Next? What is next from Spiderweb Software? We have 2 new games in development. The first, Geneforge 3, is coming along nicely. It is bigger, prettier, and has a new, improved interface. It should be out early 2005, and we will have screenshots and information ready soon. We are also working on another game. Don't want to say much yet. But we will be continuing a story that has waited a long time to be continued. That's all for now. Enjoy your Summer! And don't go outside! Your computer will get lonely! Jeff is slow, but if you aren't a Spidweb regular, I daresay you might be grateful for the notification, late or no. —Alorael, who is more entertained by the attempt at BoE news. Why not just include links to the Lyceum and Alexandria and leave it to the people who know and care?

Back in the dark days of well, everything prior to February '04, when I wasn't a part of these boards, I got all my SW news through the newsletter. That's how I knew when a new game was out. It was slow, but I was in no real hurry. EDIT: And it appears that he's making Avernum 4. Um, post your, um, thoughts on this over in this topic .[ Friday, July 16, 2004 13:50: Message edited by: Just Call Me Kel ] -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens.Kelandon's Pink and Pretty Page!! : the authorized location for all things by meThe Archive of all released BoE scenarios ever
