The website is up, though it looks very simplistic and ugly right now. Believe me, I will improve the look of that site, but for now here it is: http://www.swarchive.tk All files are currently in .rar format and are listed by forum page. Some of the links have a * by them. Those are currently unavailable either because I haven't received them yet, or I have not uploaded them to my webserver. Planned Updates: Putting up .sit formats for macs. Getting some better looking webpages and putting in some credits. Having an online archive, meaning that files will be uncompressed and viewable by browser without downloading the whole forum page first. And possibly a search feature, but I'm not absolutely certain on this. Those of you who haven't sent their files to me yet, please do so a.s.a.p. / Chance News: Most of you have noticed that Chance has been down for a few days. Just recently I found out that it is not my webserver's fault directly, though it is their reseller webhost's problem. Basically meaning that they are currently renting webspace until they get their own server. Unfortunately, their reseller server has gone down and they cannot contact their admin (in another words, the support is butt-lousy/lazy). So for now, I shall have to open up my InvFree Board until my other one comes back online. quote:Sidenote: This is my 4th topic I have made on this board. Well done. Your work is much appreciated, to be sure. -------------------- Stughalf "The death-knell of the republic had rung as soon as the active power became lodged in the hands of those who sought, not to do justice to all citizens, rich and poor alike, but to stand for one special class and for its interests as opposed to the interests of others."- Theodore Roosevelt, 1903. Download WinRAR. I think WinZip might also be able to deal with .rar files. -------------------- "I particularly like the part where he claims not to know what self-aggrandisement means, then demands more wing-wongs up his virgin ass" Posts: 961 | Registered: Thursday, June 12 2003 07:00 |

Actually, recent versions of Stuffit can handle RAR files. You may have to save them manually, though, as your browser may try to open them as text files. -------------------- I believe there are 15 747 724 136 275 002 577 105 653 961 181 555 468 044 717 914 527 116 709 366 231 425 076 185 631 031 296 protons in the universe, and the same number of electrons. -- Sir Arthur Eddington Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Also for the Mac: UnRarX and MacPAR deLuxe. Both work marvelously and both are basically freeware (MacPAR would like you to "upgrade" to the shareware version every so often). Pretty sure there's an OS 9 version of UnRar, not sure about the latter. -------------------- Winter comes: game over -- he's in the driveway removing snow with a flame-thrower. Because I am a fool who is not the least bit techno-savvy: how do I get my computer to recognize that it is a .rar file? I have Boots's apps, and I have three different web browsers, and they all save as crazy .html garble or worse. (I am on a Mac running OS X and I like to use Safari, but I have IE and Netscape, too.) -------------------- Kelandon's Pink and Pretty Page!! (The home of BoA's HLPM, newly updated to v1.1!) Using Safari, Option-Click on the .rar link seems to do the trick for me -- though I don't have the time to try downloading the entire archive. Or are you having trouble getting OSX to recognize the file type after downloading is complete? -------------------- Winter comes: game over -- he's in the driveway removing snow with a flame-thrower. I remember some immensely funny one about changing a lightbulb (how many SW-ers would it take?) which had me laughing out loud, and I just wondered if anyone knew which page it was on? The files work fine for me. -------------------- ~ørangutan Posts: 316 | Registered: Saturday, May 25 2002 07:00 |

Thank you!!! Nice to have the archive. Is there any chance that you or anyone else here has the Xian Skull topic? I loved that joke despite the flame wars it generated. I would really like to see a copy. I was being a bit of ditz and missed that file while making back ups B/4 I changed hard drives. Edit: Ignore this if its in the archive. I'm still working on downloading all of it. [ Sunday, May 30, 2004 09:17: Message edited by: devlish ] -------------------- Instant Human-Just add liberal doses of Coffee. I'm not downloading time-limited shareware to extract archive files. I reccomend the following formats: .tar.gz .zip .sit .tar.bz2 .7z -------------------- Blades of Avernum Script Archive - Submit your script now! Posts: 612 | Registered: Saturday, October 13 2001 07:00 |

If you're talking about WinRAR, it's not time limited. Yes, it does have those annoying "Buy me" windows but those, too, can easily be removed. Also, I found that .rar has a better compression rate than .zip, making the files a lot smaller. I haven't tried the other formats yet, though. One more thing to add, I'm currently working on the online archive, skiping the compressing to mac format, since my emulator is acting up and it won't move files around properly. :/ -------------------- Chance Forums Posts: 1307 | Registered: Tuesday, May 7 2002 07:00 |
