What tool do you use to assist? in Blades of Avernum

I have tons of notes on paper including lists of SDFs, names of all NPCs and their locations, lists of where all services are and prices, custom graphic sheets, lists of special items, special class items, detailed maps, timelines of history and events that have occured, and solutions to the harder puzzles (so I don't forget).

Of course, my scenarios are typically on the HUGE side, so most designers probably don't need all this.

How about this? At the end of the scenario, the games checks to see which custom items the party has and gives the player a password which when starting a second scenario (Part 2, let's say) asks for the password. Depending on the password, the player would be given back these items.

This could also work for actions the player has commited in the first game so npc's react differently or perhaps even different events would occur in the 2nd game. Of course, this would only work for a series of games designed by the same designer.

I did this in the beginning of Adv. Club 3 by use of an interview, in a very simplified manner.
And I'm planning on using this technique more extensively in a series I am toying with in the back of my head for BoA.

Attention All: Possible Virus Warning! in General

I've received 2 very suspicious e-mails over the past couple of days. One from spidweb@spidweb.com and another from an ex member of these forums. My virus checker wouldn't allow me to open these and each one had an attachment. Each was 120kb large. If you get something suspicious like this DON'T open it. This same thing happened about a year ago and with several members receiving these things. I opened one and it crashed my computer and I had to take it to the shop to get it fixed.

This may not been started by one of "us", but probably got into someone's address book and spread from there. So, everyone, please be warned.
