If you have been working on the Wish List, be sure to go over to the Blades of Exile forum and read the thread entitled "FROM SPIDERWEB ... Blades of Avernum - What To Expect ". There's a lot of stuff there about what goodies will and won't be in Blades of Avernum, and why. - Jeff Vogel Spiderweb Software http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com Posts: 960 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Despite the presence of an infant who is extremely unsympathetic to the needs of efficient software development, Spiderweb Software is soldiering on.i. Geneforge for Windows is well into beta. A March release seems very likely. It's running well.ii. Avernum 3 grinds onward. We don't have a release date for accurate than for the Macintosh this summer, but it is moving. The campaign is about 3/4 done. We have completely reworked the engine and rebalanced the game. We're refining the system in other ways, including a really cool looking lighting system.iii. Blades of Avernum and Geneforge 2. We think these will happen. But we can't think about it yet.- Jeff Vogel Spiderweb Software http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com Posts: 960 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Here is what we're working on at the moment:i. Geneforge for Windows - This currently has most of my attention. This is basically ready to go into beta. It's up, running, and looks great. Should be out by March.ii. Geneforge v1.0.2 for Mac - Genforge for the Mac still has a few bugs. We aren't in too much of a hurry to squash them, but there will be a new patch before too long.iii. Avernum 3 - Chugging along. The world is about 2/3 of the way done now. Still looks good for this Summer. There will be lots of changes in the game engine and graphics.iv. SubTerra v1.0.1 will be out soon, along with bonus levels. Galactic Core v1.0.2 is out.v. Jeff Vogel and Mariann Krizsan v2.0 will be available very soon. The mother really wants to go into labor any moment now, thank you.- Jeff Vogel Spiderweb Software http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com Posts: 960 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Geneforge v1.0.1b update - We have made up a beta patch for Geneforge. It fixed numerous minor bugs and balance issues, and adds a variety of helpful new features. This patch has not been tested, but should work fine. Download at ftp://ftp.spiderwebsoftware.com/mac/Geneforge.v101b.update.sit.binThis is just a beta patch. It should work fine, but it has not been fully tested. Please, if you try it, let me know how it works. Here is a list of the full changes for v1.0.1 (some of the minor changes are not in this patch, and you will need to redownload the full v1.0.1 when it is ready to get everything): * Several broken aspects of character creation fixed. The starting levels are now fixed and lower, and you get more skill points to spend. This prevents exploit where you could make a super-powerful character by moving all skill points to one particular skill. * Fire Shaping skill now costs one point more. * The terrain view now scrolls faster. In addition, there is a preferences option to change the terrain shift speed. * There are now more different icons for pods, spores, and wands. * Poison now does damage at half the speed it did before. * It is now easier to start talking to people. * There are several new keyboard shortcuts. They are listed in the Helpful Hints section of the in-game documentation. * Player-created vlish, thahd, and battle alphas are stronger. Base costs for creations changed to be more in line with strength of creatures. * Player creations now gain experience at a slightly slower rate. * The error message when the game files to find a suitable screen resolution is now more helpful. * The "avoid traps by starting combat" exploit has been corrected. * The infinitely repeatable quest in the Kazg Plains can now only be completed once. * Numerous balance corrections, minor bug fixes, typo corrections, etc.- Jeff Vogel Spiderweb Software http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com Posts: 960 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

At long last, Spiderweb Software has released its first all-new rpg since Nethergate. It's called Geneforge. It has an all new engine, a really ingenious game system, and a seriously open-ended storyline. We are very, very proud of this game. We really hope that you like it.- Jeff Vogel Spiderweb Software http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com Posts: 960 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |
