You might have just encountered a bug..or some faulty wiring..restart and try again..

I'm pretty sure this is a problem with your current copy of the game. You will have to back up your saved games, deinstall the game and reinstall it.

I'm sure that Synergy wiped out the grove during his destroy all game, but he may have skipped the servant mind.
