Where exactly is the undead Hal guy, that the job board in Fort Monastery blows on about. Is Hal behind the level 8 door in the goblin cave? I have explored all else.

Yes, you have to unlock the door. Start putting points in Tool Use. You'll need 15 Tool Use by the time you get to Formello anyway.
