Oh great, my internet connection is only 1/3 as fast as it used to be! And that's for ANY site I visit! Any way to fix this?

Odd, it cleared up right after I posted this topic.

Hmmmmm..........

It's back.

Give your ISP a phone call and ask what's going on. They'd know better than we would.

Earlier today I had problems with speed whenever I tried to post. When I wasn't posting, everything was fine.

It might be a worm, scan your computer. Check for spyware also.

I have a firewall, and if anything that wasn't supposed to get through does, it'll get eradicated by the Sophos Anti-virus program on my computer. And I don't know how to scan my computer. :o

My computer could really use more sanity and speed. I don't know which I need more. It's really slow, and it once forgot how to move the addresses on the list.

how many things are you running on your desktop? name all the active programs AND taskbar icons (you know, the ones on the bottom right).

Firewall cant stop Spyware and Anti-Virus cant eradicate Spyware

Get Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de
Use it to scan your computer for Spyware

If you have a firewall, but don't know how to scan your system ... then I assume that someone else installed the firewall.

Can you try asking the person who installed the firewall to help? Computer problems are much easier when you can see the problem in person (as opposed to attempting to diagnose/fix a problem on a message board).

Yes, I know I say 'get someone in RL to help' every time you post a tech problem here. You've never explained why you can't do that.

Months. I guess I should ask my dad to defrag my computer. Hopefully that'll help.

another possible factor could be that you're running too much at once. i wouldn't know, though, unless you tell me what icons are on the taskbar and what active programs you constantly have on.

Defragmenting the C drive made my computer worse! It actually forgot how to rearrange addresses when I visit a site.
