Mac or PC?

—Alorael, who would advise sticking with the same graphics for now. At least get to playing while working on your problem.

This could be because of corrupted graphics files, or even missing ones. Or somehow corrupted code that handles the graphic. Re-install, if it doesn't work, blame windows.

Before that you could try to redownload it; if it doesnt work even after redownloading then blame windows!

If you're using Windows NT, you need a special version of DirectX for Spiderweb games to work. Otherwise, I can't help you.

If you want to use that you'll also have to download the Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6. The DirectX does not function properly without the Service Pack.

—Alorael, who otherwise can't help with Windows. More specific information, like more system information and what version of Windows, would also help.

Try to free up more system resources to reduce the load time. Close programs that are running in the background (look on your status bar).

Running many applications is generally not good for a machine. (Of course, I am at this moment running 2 OSes and 8 applications. Eh.)
