I'm probably being dense, but what / where is the object you need to destroy so you can kill Spharon?
Thanks!

Search the nearby posts and cabinets. It will be a crystal shard.

I'm pretty sure I checked everything on that level (and even the level above) and couldn't find it. Could you be more specific? What do you mean by "posts"?

I think he meant pots...

Because that's certainly where you will find it (just don't go searching for it before you need to because you won't find it).

Eztaren: sorry if this seem obvious:

You have to wait until the game tells you about your inability to kill him. Once that happens, then search on the pots on the western side of the room (I think there are a few of them close to each other). You'll get an message and an option to destroy it or something else.

Luck!

Spharon maybe-spoiler question:

Can I feel free to blithely storm my way through Spharon's Lands without fear of missing out on certain plot/story details that you only found out at the Isle of Spears, or some other place I haven't looked at?

It's worth going through. You get nice stuff and two canisters. Spharon will talk to you, you wont get any major information. But it's nice to talk to people before looting their canisters :P

Thanks. I'll take that as a "Spharon's Lands is a self-contained area, so I can feel free to raid them for every last Living Tool I can get my hands on without fear of missing out on the story. ;) (I can't believe how scarce they are in GF3, and my Mechanics skill of about 14 maxed isn't exactly low...)

I had my mechanics at about 15 through most of the game. Once I got that canister of unlock and trained two levels of unlock I was fine. By the end of the game I had about 70 extra living tools. You get a lot of them later when you don't need them anymore.

Unlock, huh? I never did use it in GF2, in part because it never seemed to work on the harder locks and in part because manually unlocking things is great for xp. I'll give it a try.

EDIT: Hmm. Still only useful for the weaker locks, probably due to my low Spellcraft skill. But it's useful enough. :)
