Where in the heck is my editor? I've downloaded the demo of Avernum III but I can't find any editor program. I remember I got Exile I, II, and III of a CD with the editor. Does the demo not come with the editor if you download it?

It's actually inside the game, not a separate program. Look in the main menu for "Character Editor."
