I have never played BoE and the Exile Series, therefore I do not know how talented are our scenario devs.

I would like to know if some BoE scenarios are actually more fun than the original Exile games, and if so, do you think that some BoA scenarios will be as fun as A1 and A2 (that I preferred to A3)?

Moreover, do you think that BoA has a more natural ambientation in the "surface" or can you still make scenarios in "Avernum" (which I preferred)? I guess it's hard to do scenarios in our beloved avernum since you would have to copy all the map from A1 and make all cities again... but do you think someone will make a new huge scenario in avernum? Something that could be considered A4? The revenge of Linda? The rage of the dragons? The return of Erika Redmark? This is what I'd love! will we presumably have it?

Many people say that a good number of BoE scenarios are better than the Exile games. I've heard it said of the greatest scenario designers (Alcritas, Stareye, Brett Bixler, et al) that their works are better than the E's.

For some reason, the underworld doesn't seem to have captured the imagination of the designers the way that the surface has, but there are still plenty of scens for BoE set in Exile, so I imagine there will be a number in Avernum, too.

If Stareye could make AtG for BoE, I assume somebody will make something equally massive and cool for BoA. (Maybe he himself will. I hear he's working on something.)

To get some concept of what BoA might do, just go and read some scenario reviews for BoE. You don't even have to play the scenarios. Just read the reviews. You'll get some idea of the magnitude of what has already been accomplished in the old engine and therefore what can be done in the new one.

My bad, I forgot to mention that. Reviews are at the Lyceum, specifically under the topic Comprehensive BOE Scenario Rankings.

EDIT: And longer reviews are here.

EDIT 2: And while I'm at it, the Lyceum's front page.

There have been good scenarios set in Exile. Spears and Truffle Days spring to mind, although neither use any familiar part of Exile because copying maps is tedious and ultimately not a huge plus in the eyes of most players. There are more surface scenarios simply because any scenario not set in the world of the Exile games has no good reason for a subterranean society.

At the Gallows has been called E4. It certainly has the size and complexity to back up the claim. No, wait. Complexity was not a mark of any of the Exile games.

—Alorael, who expects that BoA scenarios will eventually surpass BoE scenarios because of greater technical freedom given to designers. If BoE could produce scenarios better than Exile, BoA will certainly produce scenarios better than Avernum.
