Question? Would it be possible w/o major amounts of scripting to create two parallel worlds that could be transfered between at will to the coresponding location to the location the party was at in the first world? Sorry if my question is unclear, the idea is slightly unformed at the time. If understandable how would it be done? -------------------- "Let's just say that if complete and utter chaos was lightning, he'd be the sort to stand on a hilltop in a thunderstorm wearing wet copper armour and shouting 'All gods are false'." Uh, kind of. You could give them a special ability or an item that would call a script that would run a move_to_new_town that would take them to the parallel town. A similar thing could be done outdoors using, er, out_move_party, which unfortunately appears only to be able to take the party within the same outdoor section, not to a new one. To make the parallel town, you could even import the old town in the editor and make whatever changes you needed. The difficult part would come if you wanted to make changes in one parallel universe affect the other universe. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. It's most definitely possible- something along the magic mirror used in Zelda 2, I'm assuming? Just have it store each party member's locations as SDFs, and check which town the party is in to send them to the "alternate" one. -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Thinking about importing the items into the new town? FORGET ABOUT IT! Thinking about [easily] moving the monsters back and forth between towns? FORGET ABOUT IT! Other than that, BoA's system actually allows a little flexibility in this respect. Say that the universes are fundamentally separate though things that happen in one can influence the other one. That way, the walls can be the same, but items and monsters can be different. -------------------- Thuryl: I mean, most of us don't go around consuming our own bodily fluids, no matter how delicious they are. ==== Alorael: War and violence would end if we all had each other's babies! ==== Drakefyre: Those are hideous mangos. Items can't be done, but monsters can. Have different versions of each monster, record them with four SDFs for each- life, x loc, y loc, health. Not sure why you'd WANT to, but it *is* your prerogative... (Actually, though, that'd be interesting- one side could be friendly characters who help you out or are innocents, and if you kill their counterparts, they die off. Lots of potential there.) -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |
