Floors have these four properties: fl_is_water, fl_is_floor, fl_is_ground and fl_is_rough. Am I right in assuming that a floor can only have one of these? None of them stack, right? Also, what do the docs mean when they say "other terrain types will conform to it when painting terrain in the editor" about the fl_is_water, fl_is_floor and fl_is_rough properties? I don't understand that sentance... And last (hopefully), can floors combine animation and shimmering? Do you notice how hill terrain next to grass has all sorts of angles that come naturally? That's what it means. -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Happy Happy Joy Joy Encyclopedia Ermariana - Trapped in the Closet ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! quote:So, the editor makes hills next to fl_is_ground floors sloped? Then why do the docs say something similar for fl_is_water and fl_is_floor? Also, what about the other questions? -------------------- -Newtfeet Posts: 151 | Registered: Saturday, July 13 2002 07:00 |

It doesn't make them sloped, it makes them brown. I was talking about the regular flat floor called 'hills' in BoE and 'dirt' here. And I think that a floor can have several of those properties. I don't understand that sentance... If you draw some water in the editor, the editor will automatically adjust it so the shore lines up. That's what is meant by conforming. And last (hopefully), can floors combine animation and shimmering? Try it. It should work. -------------------- Official Board Admin spidweb@spiderwebsoftware.com Posts: 960 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

So, it's perfectly legal to use multiple types? Something can be both floor and ground at the same time? Would this actually be used for something? -------------------- -Newtfeet Posts: 151 | Registered: Saturday, July 13 2002 07:00 |

You can have a dirt floor, can't you? You could make a swamp that's water and ground so that people can boat through it and walk on it. Ok, cool! Unfortunately, I still don't get that "conformance" thing. It's probably something I don't need to pay much attention to, right? I'll probably know if it need it... -------------------- -Newtfeet Posts: 151 | Registered: Saturday, July 13 2002 07:00 |

It means the border between two different terrains will automatically be made into a smooth diagonal instead of a jagged edge. I think. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Unfortunatly, that still doesn't help. What happens if I change the floor type? -------------------- -Newtfeet Posts: 151 | Registered: Saturday, July 13 2002 07:00 |

To see conformance, just randomly place water in an outdoor section. Even though you're placing a whole square of water, if it's next to ground, it will automatically change into a corner or an edge.
