I've been thinking on making a forum purely dedicated to abandonware ,but I am at a loss as to what to name it ,any ideas? Should I stick with Invisionfree or is there a better free forum hosting service? -------------------- George Bush is a Nazi - Eric Cartmen I'm not as think you stoned I am Visit the RIFQ Forums Posts: 462 | Registered: Tuesday, June 21 2005 07:00 |

For some reason, I think it'd be much easier to just set aside a segment of RIFQ for that purpose. EDIT: Okay, I mean some forum that's already in existence. Just generally speaking. Why? It will be the usual crew that join, the usual crew that abandon it, and then you will be left with a waste of time on your hands. EDIT: Sorry, that came out harsher than I had originally intended. quote:Okay, good. ( :P ) I don't want to act like the ultimate prick, but to be honest, the RIFQ failed because it simply wasn't interesting anymore. EDIT: Come to think of it, if this forums will have a specific purpose, and not just for fun and spamming, like the RIFQ, then it might survive. You'll have to find people interested in abandonware, though. Speaking or it, what does RIFQ stand for again? EDIT: Rehab Is For Quitters. Nevermind. But Thralni, you are right. If there was a specific purpose, or a couple of genuinely good reasons to go there, they will survive. Since you mention then, what are your favorite abandonware games, Shaun. I always like good free new games. -------------------- -ben4808 Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

How many people would actually come to your hypothetical forum? It seems to me, like it would just sit there, with one registered member, like the stuff in the back of my refrigerator. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 193 | Registered: Thursday, April 6 2006 07:00 |

Um, what? Have you actually read anyone's posts or just picked two random words out of each of them and responded to them? He wants to make a forum. I pointed out that this isn't a sensible thing to want unless there isn't already another forum that does what you want your forum to do, which, in his case, there is. quote:I've read thw whole thread, and that's why I didn't understand what you said (I even replied to this thread earlier). I understood, from what Shuan said, that at first who wanted to make a scenario fro abandonware, he gave that up, and now he wanted to join a forum about abandonware. Unless Shuan wants to make a forum for DOS games (and i really don't know why he take the trouble, for exactly the reasons I left the RIFQ) I don't quite understand your post. So. was your post about the DOS or abandoneware games? If it was about the DOS games, I didn't say anything. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Give us your drek! His last post in this topic was "I want to make one, not join". How in the flying blue hell does that suggest to you that he's given up on making a forum and wants to join one? -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! By the way, you misplace the comma all the time. First i thought it was a typo, but now I see you think it should be like that. it should not. It should be like this: quote: -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Give us your drek! Then go to the beach and build a sandcastle. That is a very fulfilling experience, and believe me, seeing it get washed away is far less frustrating than seeing a forum remain completely and utterly empty, even though both are equally inevitable... -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast.
