After a delay due to my laptop being stolen, I am ready to begin the pruning of all topics in the General Board that are older then 60 days. I will begin 11 pm PST.

Is that going to be any trouble for people that are online at the time? It would most likely be 7pm for me, so I would probably be on.

EDIT: 6:30pm.

When the murder and mayhem is complete, could you let us know how much got pruned? I use the search function in BoA Editor, and knowing how much is left would be helpful. That logic probably extends to other people and other forums.

Thanks.

edit - added a t and removed a word. typical editing.

Not offical, but if my counting is correct, just under a year and a third of topics were deleted from General. And IIRC, General was 42 pages. 35 pages were deleted.

I think.

According to my stats table, the purge occurred shortly before midnight on Sunday, board time.

General had 44230 posts in 1279 topics at 0600 GMT, and 6131 posts in 164 topics at 0800 GMT - in between there was one point when the board was unavailable apparently.

So disregarding posts made in that time, about 38099 posts and 1115 topics were deleted.

All threads, as far as I can determine, were saved (see the PPP3 topic). If not, well, now it's too late to complain. :P

Edit: That laptop theft sucks.

Edit 2: Fixed some of the numbers.

Yeah, no kidding. Why would anyone steal someone's laptop like that? It's just mean.

Now we just need to make 38099 new posts. :P

About 38099 posts and 1115 topics were deleted.

Why do people always have to be so exact when talking about such things?

Because the numbers are available.

Partly that, and partly because I have some kind of tic where I add "about" to any number I mention, regardless of how many decimal points it is accurate to.

So why couldn't it have been 'about 38000 posts and 1100 topics'?

Because nobody here is especially picky about significant figures and rounding. We are a haven that welcomes even the most poorly expressed values.

1. scenario designers that insist that monsters live in mazes.

2. a yummy clam chowder with oyster crackers.

I would have thought that one would be operating on a starvation diet if it was just the innocents.

They're quite filling, so there's no need to have many. Personally, though, I find the innocent to be a bit on the sweet side, and prefer to devour the souls of slightly naughty.

Piquant, of course.
