Or in broader terms, it's how we tell the difference between morning and afternoon times. AM starts at midnight, PM starts at noon. -------------------- Forever Always on Past the End tracihedlund@charter.net[/url] TrueSite for Blades - Blades Walkthroughs Pixle Profusion - BoE Graphics Archive Posts: 563 | Registered: Tuesday, July 27 2004 07:00 |

Isnt Greenwich at Prime Meridian and so AM/PM is before and after? Or,.... meridian stands for midnight, or rather, middle? Posts: 54 | Registered: Monday, April 11 2005 07:00 |

The meridian is the middle of the day, noon. Antemeridian is before noon, and postmeridian is after. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Meridians are the lines of longitude. AM and PM stand for ante meridiem and post meridiem, which are simply Latin for 'before midday' and 'after midday' respectively. -------------------- It is not enough to discover how things seem to seem. When I was younger, I used to just think of it as 'after midnight' and 'post midday'. I know that its stupid, and I know the real ones now, but I still thought it was easier. Posts: 2396 | Registered: Saturday, January 29 2005 08:00 |

Well, P could also stand for "past", although there'd still be no good reason to use two different words to mean the same thing. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |
