Okay, so I picked up weird and unusual items and have no idea what they do. Is there some way I can get this information about the items so I can decide whether to keep, sell, or get rid of it?

I think on the "More Info" screen, if you click on an item it'll give you a descriptive phrase about what the identified items do. I've probably had a few "???"s come up, though.

A C, an E-flat, and a G walk into the Tower of the Magi.
Ambrin walks up to them and says, "Hey! It's the Triad!"
Kelner snorts and says, "Pretty minor Triad if you ask me."

The hintbook also tells you about some of the more interesting items, if you've purchased it.

Or you could name the particular items you've found and we could tell you.

Okay. How about a Mist Globe, Wand of Carronos, and Healing Periapt?

Anyway, since I'm just playing the demo of E1 currently, I don't have the hintbook. The More Info screen proved moderately helpful, except for a few instances of "???".

Mist Globes: There are actually three kinds of these. One heals and blesses your party. One gives you skill points. One drains your experience. You can't tell which one you have except by using it and seeing what happens.

Wand of Carrunos: Increases the health of the monster you fire it at. Also, if they were originally friendly, makes them hostile. You don't want to use this wand.

Healing Periapt: Beats me. Get your characters wounded, poisoned and diseased, use the periapt, and see what it cures.

The Mist Globes either heal you, increase your Strength by 2, or poison you.

I believe the healing periapt just heals a medium amount of HP.

Ah, sorry, Seletine; I was thinking of the BoE ones and assumed the E1 ones worked the same way. Anyway, two good Mist Globes, one bad Mist Globe, no way to know which one you have except to try it.

Is it random what kind of Mist Globe you have? Like, if you save before you use it, it poisons you, and then you load your save file, could it heal you?

The effect itself is not random; any particular Mist Globe will have the same effect every time.

According to the hint book, the MIST GLOBE has a random effect:

"Mist Glove - Random effect. Can Heal, increase your strength, or poison you severely".

I assume it means that all of them work that way. I used Pandora's Box to multiply them. However mine just seems to heal me all the time, so the meaning in the hint book might not be fully explained.

There are actually three Mist Globe items that do three different things, but you can't tell them apart except by using them. So if you save and reload while repeatedly using the same Mist Globe, it'll always do the same thing, but if you find two different Mist Globes, they may do two different things.
