Has anyone actually beat that quest? If so, is it worth it?

Heh, I did. Your reward is a level of Arcane Summon.

Just make sure you haste first and get to that container before the slimes cut you off. After that they all calm down again.

But whatever you do, don't attack them.

Actually, my solution was to get the slimes attention so they all got to melee range of my fighters. Because monsters are exceptionally unwilling to leave melee range, it became easy to haste a caster and have him slip around the slimes and waltz nonchalantly over to the food bin.

I thought slimes were immune to mental effects like Daze. At any rate, I put my archer/thief in first and got the slimes attention. My fighter was able to easily slip by them at that point.

Daze can hit just about anything (except pylons), in my experience. It has saved my party of all magic-users from certain doom many times. Slimes are a particularly good target for the spell.

And it certainly made that quest easier...

Really, must have been very unlucky when I tried it several times on that quest.

I was just talking about Daze in another thread.

I could not for the life of me make it work in that slime filled hell hole either.
