I've just recently started the game, and I love most of the improvements. Though so far one thing's popped into my mind about the whole shades issue...
The whole deal of the shades appearing in towns, terrorizing them, etcetera, and their general appearance...

I wonder if they were inspired as a hommage to a certain Ultima? ;)

I completely missed that. It's probably accidental, and I find the Shadowlords more intimidating than the shades, but yes, there is a resemblance.

—Alorael, who noticed much more Ultima resemblance in the earlier Exiles than in later games. It is probably at least partially intentional.
