In GF and GF2, I used to set up little caches of hardware all over the place, usually in friendly towns near the entrance/exit. In GF3 I still do this, mostly with all the magical ingredients and kit I'm not using at the moment, but it seems to be more limited than in previous versions - I can drop all 50 of my Living Tools, or pick up all 50 as a single item, but I don't seem to be able to split the pack, and maybe carry just 10 while leaving the other 40 behind. That way, I'd almost always have enough for any individual area, without adding an extra 40lbs to my Encumbrance. As it is, playing a puny Shaper, just wearing my regular equipment and carrying a handful of pods and spores (which again, I can't split, I can have all or none of any given item) I'm 10lbs over my weight limit, and have to keep dropping all my Living Tools as my first action in combat. True, I could spend more skill points on Strength, but that's for rufty-tufty Guardians, and a bit of a pain to have to waste points on boosting a stat I hardly use, just because the interface doesn't understand the concept of 'some'. It seems that only when selling to merchants do you get the option to sell X of any item, but I don't want to have to keep wasting gold to buy items back from the merchants I just sold them to! Is there a fix or a key combination that will allow me to drop only a certain number of items? Posts: 2 | Registered: Tuesday, September 13 2005 07:00 |

On Windows, it's shift-click to split up a stack of items. I don't know about Mac, but I'd imagine something similar. -------------------- "I can't read this thread with that image. Shift-click splits up stacks of items on a Mac as well. quote:Once items are sold to shops are permanently gone. Sometimes the shopkeeper happens to be selling the item you sold, but if you sell something rare or valuable it will be lost. Shift-click it is - it's even in the instructions, though it's the very last line, and I must have missed it twice on read-throughs. I'd actually tried the shift-key, but must have been right-clicking, which of course just brings up the info box. Twonk. Thanks for the assist, people.
