I was hoping Silverchat would continue with Avernum 2 map!

But if not, I was very interested in helping.
I emailed Silverchat but got this message:
"Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: silver@silverchat.com" :(

Silver harloe hasn't actually done any work on his maps in years, but he was good enough to rehost them when they went down. We'll just have to live with a very complete map/walkthrough for A1 and a good one (by Rache) for A3, and spottier help for A2.

—Alorael, who wonders how A2 fell through the cracks like that. For the favorite Avernum it has received curiously little walkthrough love.

Curiously little? :P As far as walkthroughs go, it's got as good of a text walkthrough as most of the Spiderweb games (http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/565633.html).

But yes, it definitely lacks the visual guides of A1 and A3. I think we were all waiting on Silvar to finish his map of A2 back when the game was still fresh in our minds in 2001. When that never happened, no one else seemed to want to take it on.

Yes, you wrote a very nice walkthrough, Schro. It's the maps that are missing.

—Alorael, who thinks perhaps the game that most deserves it and least has it is Nethergate. That's a project for his copious free tiem!

Oh, I was just being obnoxious and nitpicky. I know what you meant.

Maybe Nethergate v 2.0 will warrant a set of maps? Nethergate 1 wouldn't have been too hard, as the outdoors were just 5x5, with an equal amount of indoor locations. I'm looking forward to seeing how Nethergate 2 is going to be.

I've actually been mapping Nethergate in my spare time. It will be done eventually. :P

There is even a nicely hyperlinked version of Schrodinger's walkthrough at http://www.geocities.com/zeviz1/ It might not have maps, but it has very detailed information, including a non-spoiler item and spell locations guide. And the Nethergate guide is at http://www.geocities.com/zeviz1/nethergate/

Be careful with a word, as you would with a sword,
For it too has the power to kill.
However well placed word, unlike a well placed sword,
Can also have the power to heal.

I hope I can get in contact with Silverchat, cause I don't see any need to start a totally new website when he? made a perfectly god one.

Genenum, are you actually going to do a version of Avernum Annotated Maps for A2?

I'd love to help if I could.
I started working on some of it earlier.

When Silverchat's site disappeared about a year ago, I started to write some walktroughs.
Just as I had finished Avernum I Silverchat's site came online again. I started on Avernum II but have not done anything on it for about a year.

If anyboby is interested I could work further on it.

Please let me know if you would like more on A2 and A3 or if you would like to help.

Those should definitely be in the forum header, since they are detailed enough to be very helpful.

I'm concentrating on a Spreadsheet at the moment, with all the details of towns and dungeons. It may take a while.
Haven't started a map yet as Silverchat's looked very good.

PS: Sorry this answer took soooo long, I've been
busy playing Geneforge 4.

The other walkthrus were OK, but Silverchat's are the most detailed ones.
