Stairs in Patrick's Tower?

Recently, in Avernum 2, I discovered that Patrick's Tower had a staircase. I discovered this staircase by Farsighting in the meditation pool. I do not know how to get to it as there is no apparent passageway. Does anyone know what this is? Maybe it was a development error that was not removed. :confused:

Return two of the Crystal Souls to the Vahnatai, and then talk to King Micah about slaying Garzahd if you haven't already killed him. You will be told to get the sword Demonslayer, which is under Patrick's Tower, down the staircase you found.

Oh, thanks. I didn't know about that part of the story... I returned the crystal souls but I guess I forgot to talk to the king.
