Presumably you are talking about Valley of Dying Things. In that case, a quick search should get you the answer you are looking for. If not, then you can check out the Blades of Avernum Manual pdf file, which has a complete walkthrough for VoDT. Or, if you'd rather, you can post more details -- are you sure you in fact have the opening stone, an item? What happens when you try to use it?
