Yeah, without arrays, you're sunk with some stuff. My most complicated calculator program would have to be the one for solving systems of equations in three variables. And it only works in equations with none of the coefficients as 0. I'm slowly learning the good purposes of rref(). -------------------- -ben4808 Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

You can use lists as arrays and matrices as 2D arrays, though its too much work to be worth it. Posts: 264 | Registered: Wednesday, June 16 2004 07:00 |

Lists aren't that much work. Plus, they can be accessed by other programs, so they make decent storage space. -------------------- "We can learn a lot from crayons. I meant as dynamic (resizeable) arrays, and I was primarily referring to matrices. Posts: 264 | Registered: Wednesday, June 16 2004 07:00 |

When I finally learn to code in Matlab, there will be few math problems I won't be able to solve! Oh the POWER... :D Seriously, Maple might be better for solving functions and plotting 3d graphs, but Matlab is just incredible. I remember bringing any kind of mathematical problem to my dad, and he'd need some time to figure out how to express it as a Matrix problem, and then it was practically solved. :) Of course, we won't be able to bring a calculator that advanced into the exam... :/ -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. The TI-142 is a digital thermometer. So no, he probably isn't serious. :P -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Matrix manipulations on a thermometer must be about as fun as playing a First Person Shooter on an abacus. :) -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast.
