This is a rather bad series, but I believe the link is this: TEN - 3 letters FOUR - 4 letters THREE - 5 letters ELEVEN - 6 letters FIFTEEN - 7 letters Thus, the next in the series is 17, which happens to have eight letters. —Alorael, who is sure he must have seen the series before.
