1. Parse all posts present now.

This will be done with a bit of wgetting, perhaps with a cron job too.

2. Fix known parsing problems.

Includes polls, badly parsed posts, missing quote or code tags.

This only includes stuff that actually causes the posts to be messed up in the database. Display errors can be fixed anytime.

3. Call for PPP2

First-off, General and BoE are safe. I manually archived them myself, completely. General's PPP2 stuff is already online; BoE's might not be. As for the rest...

By now, I have to acknowledge that my site-sucking software was worthless. I have the topics, but random pages and topics are missing (I'd say about 10-20%), and I need a program to reconstruct the file structure.

I'll use the archives I have eventually, but I'll first make a roll-call on Spiderweb for those people who participated. Now that I have restored the full PPP2 announcement topic, they will be easy to hunt down.

4. PPP4 - Spiderweb's Live Mirror / Evil Twin

Or Project Gemini (a deliberate inside joke). Basically, since I already have the newsfeed for the forum, it would be "little" extra effort to regularly check the forum for updated threads and save them again.

Here is some explanation of the "eras", by the way. The eras resulted from the projects being named that. I kept them around because that made it easy to see when a topic got saved. Also, since there was overlap, it allowed me to store both copies. I now have three separate file caches for PPP1, PPP2 and PPP3. It will probably stop at PPP4 - after that, I'll just overwrite the current cache of PPP4, since it's live-updating.

Live updates seem to be increasingly necessary as the worm-bitten UBB.classic board is demanding the sacrifice due a Great Old One. I know of 4 topics that have died in the last half year, 2 of them without warning. As well, of course, as about 5-10 topics that got deleted by Stareye just prior to PPP3 without warning. Live mirroring will always have a safe copy in such a case.

[sidenote: and of course it would have been very nice in the Ash Lael controversy in March. But that's REBELLIOUS THINKING!]
