rant*/

I drive a BMW. Pretty fast, too. There's a joke: "You get your cruising license from the DMV. John's the one who you talk to about driver's licenses." Anyway, I get irritated when I'm stuck behind a slow person. But I understand that on a narrow street there's nothing that can be done, and the person in front of me is in no way obligated to go out of their way for me. However, today someone cut me off on the road. Worse, the road was two lanes wide in both directions. They were at the head of their lane, but they changed lanes to absolutely no benefit of their own. I spent a mile stuck behind that idiot. Finally, I was walled in on all sides because everyone else was driving slowly.

Oops. Sorry, Rakshasi. :P

Anyhow, to stay on topic, I rarely have a day that results in any desire to rant. Go me, I guess.

Your profile says you're 16. What the heck are you doing, driving a BMW? Or is your sarcasm flying under my radar?

There's some kids at my school who drive nice cars, so I don't find it surprising.

Actually, it was a joke.

By the way, I took my age out of my profile. How did you get ahold of it?

EDIT: Strike that. Just found out that Rakshasi and I are within a month of each other. Thought Dipro was referring to me.

It flies under radar? Or at least Diprosopus's radar?

Is it just me, or does that name remind you of Diplodocus?

You know better. You really do.

We live in an age when satire has been eclipsed by reality. I'm more inclined to take absurdities of excess seriously. That being said, the turtle picture is one of the cleverest things I've seen for a while. Bravo.

If you've chosen not to go, then how is it a rant? Couldn't find a date and feel sorry for yourself? Or were you spurned by the person you wanted to take?

In light of Mr. Azuma's interpretation, perhaps Mr. Excalibur's picture was less thought-through than I had imagined. However, feel free to keep my compliments; I clearly have no use for them. :o

I get mail and e-mail from colleges as well, but I wouldn't call it spam. I love being able to receive information without even asking.

Well, I've never once gotten a piece of mail from a collage. You folks must be doing something completely different. :P

Now I have a new rant, which just disproved my previous post. This e-mail is annoying.

Dear Timothy,

I hope you received my recent email offering you a copy of 5 Easy Tips for Choosing a College. I haven't heard from you yet, and I think this booklet would be helpful to an outstanding student like you.

Take a moment now to request this indispensable information, compliments of Washington and Lee University, before I run out of copies.

Sincerely,

Washington and Lee is a decent school, at least. And it's in the fair Commonwealth of Virginia, which is spiffy.

Good heavens. I had no idea that colleges were stooping this low. Sending out e-mails to prospective students is probably perfectly reasonable, even good; but can't they manage not to sound exactly like all the other spam? A little dignity, maybe, for a place that's supposed to be offering a higher education?
