I have a few questions.

1. How exactly did the greeting start?

3. What is all the fluffy kittens about (and how it started).

4. How did the thing about fluffy turtles start?

5. Why is Imban everything?

Sorry for my ignorance. It is just that I wasn't around when it started...

Edit -6. Has anyone been able to run around General with some sanity for 30min when the fluffy turtles are hungry and survived?

These were answered a few months back, but I think before the last General purge. Use search over in the archives for "fluffy turtles" to get most of them.

Goldenking's annoying signature gets in the way.

Umm, the questions haven't been answered yet.
And the Archives don't help.

Search hard enough and you might find a person we call TM. He can answer all your questions. Keep in mind though, he'll probably tell you much more than you ever wanted to know...

To the person who tried to answer my questions- You haven't been here long enough to know any of these. And you didn't even answer any!

Also, TM would have a field day flaming me!

He's probably a lurker, Iffy. I know I didn't start my account for a few months until I was satisfied with the forums.

As for TM, he would certainly teach you a lesson that would whip you into shape. A lesson on what, and into what shape, I'll leave to you to find out.

IMAGE(img.photobucket.com/albums/v398/...)

One day, several years ago, I was in Florida on vacation, and I purchased the above depicted plush tortoise. I didn't have a name for him. I had one time previously enlisted Morgan, Saunders, Khoth, and one other person (Drakefyre? Alec? I forget) to help me come up with a name for a plush goldfish I had purchased (Morgan suggested "Lampost" which I went with after some argument about how to spell "lamp post"), so I asked them for help again, and they suggested various names. Morgan again suggested an excellent name, Inspector Peanut, but during the course of the chat there was much joking about Inspector Peanut not being a plush tortoise, but a fluffy turtle, despite my protests. Eventually Inspector Peanut's existence came up here on the message boards (maybe through one of my "Around the ______ in however long it takes" RPs but I'm not sure), and from there some mythology regarding the fluffy turtles developed, including that they live under the door to Spidweb and that they eat the sanity that is left at the door, as per the greeting.

EDIT: Also, you skipped number 2. You jumped from 1 to 3 on your list of questions.

I assume it's because he has almost as many accounts as Zxquez(sp?) had. There was a joke about Z... being everybody because of his numerous alter-egos, so I guess Imban inherited the joke when Z... left.

It's just an extension of the "when you do [something], god kills a kitten" internet meme.

1. How exactly did the greeting start?
Misc sub-forum was a rather insane (random, spam-filled, etc.) place, so some people began to jokingly give that greeting in the "Hi, I am new" threads. That joke was repeated so often that it became a tradition.

You haven't been here long enough to know how long he has been here. Tongue

Some people have a habit of starting new accounts once in a while, so you never know which high-numbered account is just a multy of somebody who has been here from the beginning.

Be careful with a word, as you would with a sword,
For it too has the power to kill.
However well placed word, unlike a well placed sword,
Can also have the power to heal.

Oh man. Morgan. There's a name I haven't seen in a long while (to my notice). It feels good to reminisce about earlier days, sometimes. It lets you see you actually have grown a little wiser since then. Morgan was (is too, most likely) a bright fella.

We never got along, though. :\

Not an actual place, so by asking the question you demonstrate that you have nothing to fear from Inspector Peanut and colleagues.
