So saturday is my bday party, and we are all drinking, dancing, eating, and just having fun. Well, out of the sudden two of my female friends start making out. I don't think I've ever been that shocked, not even minutes before when my first boyfriend (who happens to live in Dom. Rep.) showed up in my door. Now here is the question to all girls of SW. If given the right situation, let's say you were having fun, a couple of drinks in your head, and a hot girl by your side (your pick, someone even a movie star who you think is hot). I did, once. But I saw it as an act of charity. A friend of mine is gay and her ex-girlfriend showed up in the bar we were in and started a scene. Asking if I was "the new girl" and went all mad. My friend kept telling her I wasn't, but she wouldn't have any of it. In the end I grabbed my friend and snogged her, just to shut them up. Worked, too. Insane ex-girl stomped off and we continued having a good night out. Well, there's the possibility of bisexuality. But even in the case of a certain lesbian couple who apparently live together who do lesbian pornography, it's still hot. I don't know how or even if it can be explained though. In American culture it is acceptable for women to be much more physical and intimate with one another than men are permitted. Two gals kissing doesn't have nearly the implications of two guys. If you're a male who appreciates femininity and pulchritude, then watching two women kiss is a pleasurable enticement. I have a further suspicion why a number of women sometimes resort to such experimentation, notwithstanding drunkenness. We've created such polarized role models for men and women that women may have a hard time finding men who meet their needs for intimacy--emotionally especially, but also perhaps physically--and for communication. Men are essentially trained by our society's ideals to be lone bastions of self-reliance, are we are not really permitted to show signs of weakness. This means we have a lot of bottled up men with inner insecurities and fears of failure, but no one to really safely discuss such things with. I think gender issues are some of the most central issues to address to really improve our society.
